question about Steam and HL2...

my question is, how come Valve wanted 2 release HL2 (September 30th) before their release of "The All Mighty" STEAM??? :O

if so then y Valve wanted 2 release HL2 with the Beta Steam?? it seems that HL2 wasnt finished at Sep30th cuz theres no way Valve wanted 2 release their greatest game with a beta produce..

i actually happen to like steam very much..guess its because i get no bugs at all and no problems

Steam has been stable for a long time now. Obviously if Steam was the reason for the delay then there would be no reason not to have it out by now.

There's two reasons for the delay - number one the code was stolen, they had to fix up the multiplayer code for security reasons. The second, and most likely biggest reason for the delay, is that they weren't finished.
