Question about the black box.

I just purchased a new ATI card that came with a product key for the black box. I was wondering if I could type it in now and it would be good or if i would have to wait until it was avalible for download/purchase. I dont want to type it in early and not have it work or something, I only ask this becuase I have not yet heard of the black box available for a pre-dowload yet. Also while Im on the subject, when is it supposed to come out? ( I'd look around but every time i do that every site says something differnt so i have no idea who is right and who is wrong. )

Half-Life 2: Black Box has ben canceled, instead there's Half-Life 2: The Orange Box. It's offically slated to be released in early October, I think some one said October 5th.

Your key still works. The Black Box is still a package on Steam.

Yep, you can buy/get black box via Steam, so you will have to download it, it will be in you Steam account. The game comes out in 9th October.

I've already got HL2, E1, CS etc etc, so I don't need to buy them all over again, is this where the Black Box edition comes in?

blackbox(steam only) is all three of the new games. Orange box(retail and steam?) are hl2,ep1,hl2dm,LC +3 new games

I know with Valve's previous HL2 key bundled with ATI cards you could enter it in as soon as you got it. It just added the game(s) rights to your account so you are set when it's released. As if you had paid with your credit card early. I bet you could do it now with this key too.

i have dial up, so i am going to have to buy the orange box (lost coast took 3 months to download) but i already have HL2, and ep1, will this cause a problem or overwrite or something? Or do you think there is an option for which games to download?

Shouldn't overwrite anything - I'd guess offhand you'll be able to install them separately, so you can skip the HL2 / ep1 stuff entirely.

Activate your key here to get a free copy of dod:source while you wait for the rest of the games.

well this is nice, but I already have DOD:S, plus, i think i already lost the little card with the product key on it D: .. Its around here some where i just have to clean up my room.

EDIT: FOUND IT! and i didnt even have to clean my room!



I finally typed it in right i suppose, it says the games have been activated and are permanently associated with my account. then another window came up saying Half life 2: Episode 2 has yet to be unlocked and will appear in my steam games window when it becomes available ( i think this is what it said ). what ever... hope i get to play the game, i suppose i have another copy of DOD:S for free... I would have been nice i could have given that to a friend... shit 4 free games with a 400 graphics card... that shit had better pay off! ha!

it doesnt seem to have done anything other then see that I already have it and discontinued the install, i dont have the choice to give it to someone, thats what I said: " I would have been nice i could have given that to a friend "... i suppose there is a type-o in there. it should say "It" in stead of "I".

Valve has said that when the Orange Box installs and detects HL2 and/or Ep1 you will be given an option to give these games to other people/steam accounts. Personally I'd like see this as a permanent feature for all "duplicate" steam games but that remains to be seen.
