Questions about the events leading up to City 17

Would anyone here think if Valve took a different approach to telling the events leading to HL2, should they do something a little different than make an expansion? And I'm not talking about HL1.5, I mean not even games at all, like novels and stuff.

What's your take?

I don't understand what you're saying. I don't know if it's your poor english skills or my poor english skills... Maybe both combined...

I wanted some opinions on whether or not there should be books or stuff that explain the events between HL1 and HL2.

Sorry, I forgot you had a limit to edit posts.

Ohh... No, I don't believe there should. I like the mysterious feel around it all... Other than that, I'd love if they would convert the games into books..!

Comics/books/"Graphic novels" would be appalling.
I think HL 1.5 - a bit of filler in between BMRF and City17 wouldn't be a bad thing in the slightest.
Damn sight better than "graphic novels"

I like it the way it is. Just fill in the story with what you think it should be.

What about a proper novel, from laidlaw, id love a proper written version of the HL1 story.

I'm sure we'll learn roughly what's happened in the interim between the games during Half-Life 2 anyhow.

That is half the texperience of HL2, you dont know what has gone on because you are Gordon Freeman and he doesnt know. It would be like adding more to the halflfie story line, in things you didnt know at all. The other halflife expansions didnt add new story really, they just parralled what you learned in HL1.
Although things about Alyx backstory, as long as it didnt reveal too much detail (or things you dont learn in HL2) i think would be a good thing

I'd have to disagree about the expansions; I think they expanded the storyline considerably...
