I havn't seen it in months and after watching it again boy does it look amazing. Very different visual style than plasticy farcry and doom3. kinda like stalker except more gritty and realistic.

ok here is my question.

Will it look like that in gameplay or was this just a fsaa demonstration? Cuz for just 1024x768 that was amazing graphically. it still holds up.

We don't know yet. The engine can definately do it, but it takes a pretty high end card. FSAA is available to anyone willing to spend the performance on it.

i have 9800pro i hope they let us enable those awesome reflections

The 9800 Pro will be able to run with all effects turned on if that's what you're wondering.

wow "QCKBEAM" this is totally off topic but my birthday is exactly one day before you in 1987...strange.

.... All you Radeon 9800pro and XT owners bow down to the new Radeon X800s.... They out perform 9800s by about 2x. The X800XT also edge past Nvidia's 6800Us in performance except Halo.

I'm going to cry in the corner now.

there was just an email in the 'information from valve only' thread about this posted today. i suggest you read it

haha yeh.....the 9800/5900's would do 30-40fps with high settings in games while the x800/6800's would do about 80-100fps. In some games they would break 200fps, this is going to be the biggest performance leap ever, the ultimate cards to own for hl2/doom3.

I'm selling my fx 5900 pro if anyone is interested, haha.

Halo can't rrun on ATi cards. I was playing it, and god damn did it LAG..........

I have a 9200 128 MB.....
I know, I know, but it should run great on it, I have a friend who have a freaking GeForce 4 and it runs like a dream.......... Is it any coincidance that the Xbox has an Nvidia developed chip and the PC version runs really well on Nvidia Cards?........

To have all those effects active valve would need to make the relavent changes to every texture and reflective object in the game, or at least a significant ammount of them, The DX9 Source video was never meant to be linked to HL2 directly, merely the source engine.

The majority of the users wont be able to have HDR at playable frame rates anyway, so its not an imediate priority for the release of HL2, however they can progressively update the content if they wish using steam, And future source projects will probbally implement the feature fully.
