raytracing

Im currently working with a camera that goes to third person if looking too closely at something, however, i dont want this to be the case with water.

Is there some way i can get raytracing (or is it tracelines? i forget) to either ignore water, or something along the lines of "see" water and keep in 1st person?
 
Managed to find a solution pretty quickly, used MASK_SOLID instead of MASK_ALL for anyone who is interested
 
what threshold distance are you using ? that could get really irritating if the level design doenst account for it. also how are you easing the motion ? .
