Realistic Horizons.

I'm compiling a map high in the air and trying to fiigure out a way to produce the illusion of it being over the ocean and thus the water going out to the horizon. Is there way Increase the enlargment ratio of the skybox or cause it to tile?
 
Assuming you've already made a custom skybox texture, the only way to produce that effect is to make it like that in the image.
 
or you can make your world hull a capped hollow cylinder, place your geometry in the centre and put fog in that's the colour of the horizon part of the skybox texture. the cylindrical world hull provides the horizon, especially if it's water
 
Hmm, that would work, providing the water detail when looked at from above and simply a blue haze at a horizonatal distance. thanks.
 
valve didn't do this in the coastal maps for some reason. i'd be curious to know what that reason was
