Are there programs that you can use to record you playing video games??? if so could you tell me plz?

I also need something that can record segments of DVDs.

fraps from fraps.com will record video game footage, with or without audio.

as for dvd, thats different, you'll need to decrypt the dvd and rip it to capture the video, otherwise you get macrovision artifacts.

Im doing a powerpoint presentation on Computer Graphics (animation, modeling, skinning, etc) so i need video footage.

I was planning on gettinf footage from my lord of the rings DVD (golem) but i dont know how to record segments of it and maybe also some black hawk down stuff.

And i was also getting footage of A:A and battlefield 1942.

Ripping segments of DVDs isn't exactly hard, but it is time consuming.

First, you'll need a DVD decrypter/ripper, I suggest either DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink.
After you've decrypted your DVD (which is pretty straight forward with either of those programs, shouldn't take but a minute or two to figure out how to decrypt a DVD with either of those programs), you'll need to convert it to DivX/avi, you can find guides to do that at http://www.dvdrhelp.com.

After you've converted your raw DVD to avi, you'll need a program, such as Virtual Dub to cut the segments out, and save them as individual files.

There are guides around if you need help on any of these programs, just search google. There's the door, now open it :)

As for recording game footage, you can use FRAPS, as Xtasy suggested, or you can use a freeware program, such as CamStudio (keep in mind, CamStudio isn't plug and play, it requires alot of tweaking to get a good framerate from games)

Hope this helps :)

I dunno about capturing footage from a DVD, but I do know about getting footage from videogames. Xtacy0 said it, FRAPS is the best program to use when making a video of a game. It'll kill your FPS while you're recording, but the video will some out nice. If you search google for the Crack-X website, you can find a crack for the full version of FRAPS. You only need teh FRAPS 2.0.0 demo and the crack.....;)

The videos you record with FRAPS tend to be quite large in file size. You'll want to use Virtual DUB to compress your videos using DivX codecs to make the file size manageable. Virtual DUB is a free program so just google for a download link... Also, make sure you have the latest DivX codec installed on your computer for when you're trying to compress the videos.

Good luck on your powerpoint project.

FRAPS is effing insane. I record a little bit and it's taking up multiple gigabytes. I know... eet haz 2 be uncompressed! Whatever...

Plus, my videos came out all slanted anyway.

I don't like it very much.

I can do a 5 min video with sound at 640x480, comes out a little over a gig.. then, I compress the audio and video with virtual dub, and badda boom, badda bing, 5 minute video, with sound, at about 30MB
