Hi, i am currently doing a mod for HL2 as a school project (im studying in 3d animation school for video games) Its a single player mod, but anyway, the goal isnt to have a playable environment but rather a Beautifull environment with alot of eye candy things. HL2 engine has alot of cool features that i cannot find any info on it and i would need your help.

Our map is a big 1850s Mansion with a Jules Vernesque look. I would like to have a nice HDR lighting, but one thing i would really like to do is Big stained glass over some walls. It is an indoor map but all the lighting comes from window and roof. Thats why it is really important for us to be able to do stained glass window.

Exactly like that kind of thing

Someone here knows how to do that?

Need help if you can.I am scared this needs to do programation for shaders :(

I've been havnig a huge amount of trouble finding much insight on HL2's shader system myself

unfortunately all I've been able to find is this

http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Shader_Types_and_Parameters

I suggest you try to track down the material name then extract it's VMT with gfcscape to find out what they did....

if you're lucky it might be a grayscale map where refraction is defined with whites in blacks... but most probably it will be harder than that.. if I have time, I'll check it out myself and post what I learn.]

good luck :)
