Well... no, they don't mention those names in HL1 or the expansions. However there were 2 scientists in HL1 that looked like Kliener and Eli however they were never given names and you encountered clones of them all over the game, same goes for Barney, LOL.

Yeah. I think Collette Green was made up as they made Decay, not sure though.

Yep. That guy was retconned into the pre-bullsquid attack Eli. And, if Blue Shift is to be believed, the very first Barney glimpsed in HL1 is Barney Calhoun.
