Regarding the stolen/leaked/alpha/beta HL2 content

There's been word going round recently that Valve consider the leak as being "ancient history" and that it's ok to use everything but the source code from the leak.

WRONG!

It's not just the *code*. It's all of the stolen materials--including
maps, models, textures, etc. None of that should be used by anyone.

Just in case anyone was getting any ideas.

Well MI is supposively using it. They are using it I think to recreate & make new models, maps, skins, etc. to make their mod of the "original" HL2 story, plot, & characters that was originally in the game.

infact all those leaked assets were packed and released as a mod known as "Missing Information". wish i could post its link. but...hey!! its still illegal right?????

actually MI has the unofficial blessing of i believe gabe himself and/or some other top shot at valve, the "tub" (as is the private MI forums are known) is more or less frequently visited by some valve members. i know as a fact that at some point some of them actively helped the MI team to get some of the leaked material to work in HL2.
