Will I have trouble installing my XP Home on a different PC? I seem to remember something about copy protection not allowing registration if major hardware changes are detected.

It won't work. I think you have to call them and get a new activation number, because you've "upgraded."

yeah...this happened to me when i upgraded.. had to call in and get a new registration code.

If I remember correctly I can go for a few days without registering, is that true?

Reason I ask is that my parts are arriving tomorrow and I want to build it up, install Ops, and get it at least working. It wont stop me cold will it? If it does stop me cold is there someone around 24-7 to get me registered on the new machine? Does it tell me who, (what number) to call when it detects the difference? Can I find the info easy enough on Microsofts web page?

TIA

yeah XP gives u 30 days to get the operating system registered.. and after that it locks itself so u can't use it... so um..yeah i'd wait for the parts before even bothering to install.. u know, just in case the parts get held up at customs or take longer to ship for whatever reason.
