Of all the big magasines to get to review half-life 2 the earliest some tiny one in Belgium. I just dont see why they should get it first, so, here is my theroy. HL2 will be realeased before the 8th, maybe even a couple of days before. And because Gameplay only has to send its mag's out to a very small area, they will be able to do the review from a bought copy and send it out in time for the release of the magasine. So the point is-
HL2 will be out before the 8th !!!
I looked and I dont think anyone has posted this before.

PcGameplay has already confirmed they played through the entire game, and also the Review is entirely done. 8 Pages long.

I wonder if there will be any spoilers in the review. Seeing as maybe HL2 will not have been released by then.

Magazines don't go out and buy copies of games. They get sent them by publishers/Developers. Sometimes they don't get them and have to go out and buy the game themselves but it's rare.

It'll be really unlikely that PC Gameplay will be the only magazine to have a review copy, I'd expect most of the magazines to come out around that time to have a review copy.

enough with the release date thread please!!! its coming soon!!! end of stroy!!!

If they have played the game through then it must almost certainly be a gold standard. PC magazines generally try and break a game in every possible way and it should be an indication that the RC will be approved quickly?

No they don't. They play through the game and test the game. If it crashes they've probably been reassured that it will be fixed before release.

Yeah, it will be here soon. One good thing to do is (try, I know this is really hard) find something else to do while you wait. Then you won't even be "waiting". You will forget totally about that game called half-life 2 and then when its released, you will know. (thats a problem, every 6,000,000,001 person on earth will know). Until then, do something productive :)

I don't think they can fill 8 pages without spoilers. If the game's not out by October 5th, I don't think I'll read the review (though I won't be able to resist). Lucky me, I don't have the DVD edition so I won't have to care about those 50 screenshots :P

But I think there will be other magazines that have a review before the 5th. It's hard to believe that PCGP will be the first to have a review, being a tiny magazine compared to US and UK magazines. So for those who are going to post reviews (though I don't think that's allowed - copyright), please make sure your thread title is clear that it contains spoilers.

Affen, you are torturing yourself, if the review is out it probably doesn't have any spoilers because the magazine is committed to valve, any new material will be authorized by valve anyways.
So read the review and don't turture yourself, it's bad enough to have to use an AZERTY keyboard anyways.

Well guys according to the new PC Gamer (which btw has first look on Quake IV) that Vampire game (sorry can't remember the real name this early) that uses the source engine is getting released on Oct. 12 and valve stipulated that it couldn't come out until after HL2 so for them to meet this release date it would have to be released before. Just somethin to think about while we wait :) Hopefully it won't be that long now.

I like torturing mys... wait, you'r right, I'll be reading that review as soon as I can get my hands on it :D
And what's wrong with an AZERTY keyboard? :P

Yeah, it's checked by Valve. The PC Gameplay site now says they had to remove the 50 extra screenshots on the DVD because Valve was worried they were gonna spoil too much. Nice to see they do care.

And since when is PC Gameplay a 'tiny' magazine? They went to Valve two times before, just like all the other big PC mags.

why u little arrogant pig headed kangaroo, u amaricans have all the games 2 or 3 weeks be4 we can even play them its cheaper in USA and some games arent being released here so i think your now the most arrogant guy on earth :hmph: :flame:

With tiny I meant that it has few subscribers compared to magazines in the US or UK, but that doesn't mean it's of bad quality (otherwise I wouldn't be subscribed to it). But as I said in another post, as a Belgian I'm proud that PCGP is the first to announce a full review!

Though I'm not subscribed to the DVD/CD edition, I'm glad to hear that they removed the 50 screenshots. I'm sure somebody would have posted all the screenshots on the board, spoiling the fun for others.

It's nice to see how many Dutch/Belgian users post on this forum. Benelux rulez! :)
