Sorry if this has been posted before, but i was wondering if valve have given us an expected release date for episode 2, will it around april/may time ?

Summer-ish. So yeah, possibly April-May, but more than likely June.

I'm guessing early fall to be honest

What about it? 'Late 2007 for the FINAL ACT, i.e Episode 3'.

I thought it was funny that they were reassuring people that Episode 2 wouldn't be delayed until 2007. :p

Last I heard was "Q2 2007". Since this is their second official delay as far as I recall, by the Official Valve Release Pattern that means their chances of actually making it are negligible, but no longer zero.

I'll believe in Ep. 2 when I bring my copy home and open it. No, maybe not until it finishes installing.

Hope it releases around mid-June, around my birthday and I should have a new pc by then :)

Seeing as Ep2 was delayed till summer I wouldn't expect Ep3 for Christmas 07 I would expect it at about Feb 09!

Darn, mine is 30th of may, they won't release it starting June I suppose :(
Anyway, I hope Lombardi points out it might take longer and suddenly BOOM HEADSHOT the just release it a few weaks following that statement, resulting in large numbers of fatal heartattacks due to massive brain orgasm XD

I was just browsing through the Steam forums for HL2 EP2 and it says Lombardi had confirmed with Game Informer that Episode Two has been further delayed into the 3rd quarter of 2007!!

So thats July, August, September time :( ;(

here is the article

Ahh that sucks :( what happened to 6 months per episode?
Oh well, suppose it improves the game :)

Yeah, I wonder what the Valve guys are thinking now - on the one hand, they wanted to use episodes to give a new game every 6 or so months. On the other hand, Ep1 is a huge success, and it surely needed all the time it spent in development. I, of course, prefer having delays as long as the polish is put into it.

Ep2 will probably really get released this summer - they've already postponed release twice, that's enough for Valve. Ep3 will probably again get promised sooner than it's going to be released and delayed afterwards - that's a Valve tradition by now (though they could, you know, refuse to give a date until it's really almost ready).

Let's just relax and wait for it. We can't speed up the things one way or another. It's Valve's job.
Most of you may don't know how hard it is to create a computer game, especialy in the class of HL2. I know, in other hand, as a software programmer that a good product takes a lot of time to create, and believe me, computer games are simply the hardest software to write, mainly because the users (players) are very critical about every detail, not to forget the huge ammount originality, will and devotion that are needed to write a good game. All this takes time. If you're interrested in more details about how a computer game is created, drop me a pm, i'l buy a beer ;)

Valve proved themselves as one of the greatest game designers in the scene (next to many other too), so let's arm ourselves with patience and i'm sure we won't be dissapointed :)

not long to wait then :) i dont get to see my computer till that time is around anyways....

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was hoping to get this game after my final exams!!! :(

My finall University Exam, which determines my future career path, will be finished in June. So I hope it will be released in June. I don't want to be addicted to Ep:2 and lose my place in the university.

But there is a flaw in your defense... The majority of the game is already written. All they have to do is script a few new sequences, and maybe a new feature or two. And you cant say art creation is whats taking so long, because even I (as a computer animation student) can make content pretty quickly. Professionals can only be faster.

Im betting the major reason for the delays is Portal and TF2... which is bullshit because I dont want either of them, and I know many people who are the same way. They should have just release portal and tf2 as separate games.

Damn those ****ing Xbox things, and it is stupid to wait more than year for just 3 hours of gameplay :frown:

Anyway I tried coming with a equation to show VALVe's delay factor but it's quite complicated.

When they mention Q3 is it according to the fiscal year or just nomral subdivion of 3 months?

My final exam is also in June and I was hoping it would be released when I was finished :(

5 hours max, ill put a tenner on it

and thats normal playing, not taking 2 hours longer than it actually requires

im sure I read somewhere (official) the game will be 6-7 hours.

if i find the link to the source i will post it up.

har har, I knew it! My formula said that by game delayment playhours would be 6-7 :D

ya know what....it's not coming out 'till prly late '07. just face it...there's a pattern of delays we have to start learning from

believe me, i hope i'm wrong

It really shouldn't be late 2007. The current date is after two delays - ought to be enough even for Valve.

And yeah, Ep2 looks like it's going to be 6 hours. Maybe 7, probably six though. I can recall Valve saying that they want Ep2 to be somewhat longer than Ep1. That implies it being substantially longer, not 10 or 30 minutes longer, so 6 hours would probably be a good bet.
