How does a 13 year old kid able to predict accuratley something that far off in time and space. That meteorite will be many millions of miles away for it to hit in that time scale, it is impossible to predict wether it will hit the earth or not, never mind a 13 year old German kid.

It's not that difficult. Since asteroids and comets follows the laws of physics one can predict their orbits by observing their changing positions over time. The longer you observe it the more accuratly you can predict it's orbit.

On another note, I'm getting slightly worried for the kid. I get the uncomfortable feeling that this poor kid did something pretty ambitious & ingenious considering his age, and teachers and/or parents who don't fully understand his work (much less the issue) trumpeted it to the press...hope he's gonna be okay.

I agree with what you are saying, however. It is impossible to pretict the cercumstances that may happen over the next few years. The comet could collide with something else before it reaches us. Nuclear war could destroy all life in the next few years. The sun may explode in a massive fusion explosion, resulting in the death of all life from the solar system. Anything...

Including this being entirely bullshit, which I predict it is...
