"modest rise in A-Level results"

A-Levels are the exams taken at the end of each year at college in the UK.

ahh.. okay.
well congrats to everyone deserving :)

If everyone does well then nobody does, right? So if the average score rises your result will be worth less.

Yeah, but there's been a rise every year for the last 23 years. Nothing special, really.

Its because we're getting smarter, its because of all these video games I say. :dozey:

Yarr, my cousins did rather well today. Grats to all that passed. :) Just be glad you'll never have to go through that crap again.

Isn't grade inflation a bad thing?
The media is a piece of s**t. I'm sure you've noticed. Be wary of ANY figures these tits flash around, they're engineered to cater for their horribly biased opinions.

A2 Fails are on the decrease? Well f**k me. Considering that you have to get past AS levels, to get to A2 levels, theres a whole load of fuss over nothing. Failures are culled at AS level: if you don't make the grade at AS, you don't even get to take A2 levels.

Hate to name names, but the Daily Mail? F**k you!

Edit: BTW, people have been posting their results here

Is it only to ways, fail and pass? Aren't there more levels?

Yeah, there's

U (fail) E, D, C, B, A
------------------>

But the papers seem to think it's just "Passes" "Fails" and "A Grades"

**** the media tbh. I know I bolloxed up my A2's but who cares, my 1st choice Uni accepted me on basis of my personal statement and all-round-skillz :E

I got

C in History (I was predicted an A but spent too much time on Maths)
D in Maths (Predicted a fail, as Maths is the hardest A level, and I spent a lot of time training myself for that)
D in Physics (I'm shite at Physics, dunno why I took it)
D in General Studies (I was drunk, it was compulsery, so I don't care, no uni cares about G-studies, it's just a load of dickcheese)

I failed the scholarship paper I was entered for by a few marks, a bit annoying, but hey - doesn't matter, doesn't reflect on me, was a degree level paper taken at A level :|

All in all, I had to study hard for the subjects I wasn't good at, and this reflected on my good subject (History - I was predicted an A)

I'm an arts student, so why did I take science subjects, I'm shite at them.. my tutors all agreed with me

BUT WHO CARES? I GOT TO MY UNIVERSITY OF CHOICE :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

**** the media.

Hey badger you got simular grades to me :D, that makes me feel better :P considering your an intelligent guy. Beat me at physics though, bastard :(.

CDDE for me but missed the c in geog by 10 marks...grrr

My brother got his Leaving Cert(Irish College entry test) aswell. He got 380(out 600). Not great but he can do the course he wanted.

since this thread seems to be turning into the new official "post your grades" thread:

A grade in AS Critical Thinking (so now you know why I'm an arguementative little... person)

I am happy with these grades :D
Well done everyone :)

I got in my A2 level exams:
B in Biology
B in Computing
C in Chemistry

I got in my AS level exams:
B in Use of Mathematics

"... Just be glad you'll never have to go through that crap again..."
