It's incredibly obvious that Alyx has a crush on Gordon and did from Black Mesa IMO. She shyly fixes her hair as she says "I'm sure you don't remember me though" among other things.

lol, that really made me laugh - that isn't the line, but the one you misheard does rhyme... she says: 'going on a year now i haven't had anything twixd my nethers 'wasn't run on batteries' it's 'twixd her nethers', not 'tweaked her feathers' - pretty funny though.

and yes there is obviously a love interest, but valve would never do anything stupid with it.

I think they are just uncomfortable with Gordon having a girlfriend or something. I myself would hate that.
If Valve can keep some kind of tension without it being blatantly obvious most ppl wouldn't mind.

There is lots of emotion in Half-Life 2. And there will be emotion in the Episodes. Love isn't the only emotion.
 
It's somewhat difficult to create a romance when there's only one real character, don't you think?
 
I dont think it'd work in half-life. at most alyx probably shows some kind of affection like before the boss thingie in the end of HL2.

w3rd... Besides, how would it work graphically? It would probably be like some ****ed up hentai where you never see the penis, just it's effects. Too wierd for me.

Agreed.

But showing some form of affection might need to work somewhere along the line. How about a leap into Gordon's arms? They could do something cool by weighting the movement of the viewport, and Alyx animating sorta like an equipt weapon would.

But then again, we shouldn't expect too much. This is the post-apocalyptic land of C17 we're talking here, it's hard enough without Antlions poking you in the butt every few seconds.

Anyway, I dont think Valve will pull something retarded. They haven't disappointed me yet (unlike a certain Id Software).
 
If they did it like Star Wars: KOTOR then it would be acceptable, in case you havent played that game yet heres how the romance plot lines were laid out, if you didnt trigger certain conversations or did certain actions in the game the romance wouldnt be played out, however if you said certain things or did certain things in the correct way you could play out the romance sub-plot to the end. But if he falls in love with anyone it should be Alyx, cause shes the only female character that genuinely cares for Gordon, you can tell by the way she acts and says things like when she rescues you at the end of Point Insertion when you wake up shes standing over Gordon and smiling in a minorly suggestive (not too suggestive though), also when your traveling to Kleiners lab in Red Letter Day shes totally distracted by Gordon, i could tell this by the way she walked and talked to him, she seemed really taken in by Gordon even though they only had just met each other, but i trust VALVe completely on this one.

I think their relationship will be played out in a friends/love kinda way. Obviously not a sexual relationship - simply two friends with a heavy relationship. Infact I really look forward to seeing this built upon.

I always thought the supressor was an uplink to a satellite-based weapon. Not that it matters in any way...
