Second new Portal video!

Looks so fun!!!

I like how he makes a portal on the wall and it exits on the ceiling.
 
Ugh... still really don't like the new portals or the dark environments. The turret voices are pretty cool though. :)

I agree, the turret voices are very neat.
 
I'm wondering if they got rid of the voice over the PA from previous videos and now are going with the "turret" voices. I liked the old PA voice better.

Most likely both sets of voices are still in – the announcer's lines were just too funny to drop. I think the "This next test is impossible," "...you will be missed," etc., lines, as delivered by PA, are going to be used for moving-the-story-along purposes, and the "searching... malfunction" voices to let you know when, say, a given turret is safe to pass.
 
The PA will NOT ever leave this game.

She is an integral part of the story and everything would need a complete rewrite (story, maps, etc) if she would get taken away...
 
Mmm... on a couple of re-watchings of that video, the new portal effect isn't too bad - it has a sort of hole-in-space feel - but I still think the original you-just-ripped-the-universe-a-new-one flames were cooler. :P
 
Looks like Valve improved the portals, making it seam more when going through the portals.
 
Is the video on Steam yet? My brother is hogging my pc. :(
 
I wonder if there are two different portal effects, one for PC and one for XBox?
 
Or an option for it :D


I like the old spacetearing look better.

I also like how they've added similar City 17 graffiti to some of the concrete walls :)
 
Interesting video. I can't wait for EP2, TF2 and Portal!!! I also prefer the old portal effect (maybe we should have a poll on it).

I'm already obsessed about this game :D New portals look is more like the "o" in Portal logo, maybe that's why they changed it?

This video is IGN's so it won't be on Steam.
 
I don't mind the new look of portals. But the lighting is a bit funky now. I like the old "clinical" lighting of previous videos. The lighting in the last couple vidoes looks too harsh for a laboratory/testing facility, unless there was a power outage or something and they're operating on emergency/backup lighting.

+1... though maybe the facility's attacked in the middle of one of your tests and you have to escape on your own, that'd be cool.

Hope the first mod out for Portal will be to replace the smooth portal effect with the rip portal effect.

i didn't like the old portal effect..at least the colours..i like this one though
 
i think that the first thing some people are gonna do is make a mod that has like 30 different portal designs, so i wouldnt worry about it

In Doom 3 there is a mod to make a translucent images of, "Hello Kitty" and other stuff in the flashlight. So I'm thinking some perverted whacko is gonna make a vagina as a portal...:P
