Maybe they're holding back on purpose for SA 3 on Dreamcast 2? I mean it did go downhill after DC went bust (IMO). But damn I gotta get my hands on Unleashed this weekend.

Sega need to go back to the roots of the original Sonic Team, as i don't regard the current Sonic Team as knowing anything about him. Sonic for me used to be about attitude he was cool and the games were so fun to play, in fact i still play the classics even now which is rare for me.
Sega have to stop creating weak characters and i mean a pathetic rabbit call Cream or was it Cheese? who can fly by rotating her ears, umm where have i seem something similar.
The original had Tail's who was cute and the brought the flying mechanic which was new, then you had Knuckles who could climb and punch and was kinda like a rival always one step ahead.
Each one had a lot of thought put into them and brought something new. While now Sega are adding these characters cause they have to. I have never so felt embarrassed playing a game before, but Sonic Heroes changed that and i knew Sonic had died.
Sega need to realise that the people buying these Sonic games are the old veterans of the originals and they should start listening to them. Until they can match up to the originals Sonic will continue to score poorly.

I dream of a 1080i remake of the Mega Drive series (plus the 32x and CD titles) with a Mario-like overworld and visual continuity between the zones along the line of what you had in the Sonic 3 Mario games (additionally, if the levels were constructed like spirals, you could see the areas coming up or something...). Completing the games, collecting all the emeralds, exploration in zones would net you new playable characters, moves and games, all of which would be backwards compatible with earlier titles (so Tails, Knuckles, Espio in Sonic 1 levels. Sonic in Chaotix). Story would be minimal and something you could toggle out completely.
Among the Mega Drive games you'd already have the Sonic and Knuckles branches which could be further distinguished by giving them a little more individuality (mixing up the zones a little, so you're not just retreading. Unlock Sonic 2 & Knuckles after S&K or Chaotix). The cool thing about this idea is that they could make it modular... keep adding to it with a similar system for the Advance / Rush titles or just create an entirely new DLC set of Sonic episodes...
edit: Bring back that Death Egg song that always reminds me of Pulp's common people. Hoozah.

Just got the game, give personal review later.
EDIT: first levels with both sonics, the speed version takes some getting used to, not as smooth when it comes to moving, like there's some millisecond delay or something when you try to maneuver to get rings while running. Other than that its quite fun. The werehog levels are different in that theres more enemies and more switch activation type things. This is all from just the first couple levels.
