Self-Shadow Bump Maps?

Does there exist a tutorial for creating Self-Shadow Bump Maps somewhere?

Just make a normal map, and use the ep2 engine.

Upcoming Left 4 Dead is going to support self-shadowed bumpmas.
 
I'm pretty sure Episode 2 did, it used them in the antlion caves.
 
TF2 uses them for various cliff textures. There is no automated way to make them as far as I know. :(
 
Well, there isnt any difference in texture, its just that the self-shadowing is done by the shading algorithms and renderer as far as i know... so you should be able to make a "normal" normalmap and it should self-shadow by its self if used in the EP2 engine.
