server not responding when joining friends game

Hi All

I am hoping someone can help me with this question.

Problem :
When trying to join a server that a friend of mine has created ( through the join options in the friends list ) it gives me a mesasage of server not responding.

This also happens when i create a server in the Dedicated server and ask my friends to join that.

The game can see the IP that is created with the port 27015. However when they try to join it they get the same message " server not responding ".

I have no firewalls enabled on my machine at the time of trying to do this function. This is not isolated to just my connection as i have tried many friends in my list and they have tried the same function with all there friends and get the same result.

When i have the console running it actually comes and says that it has tried 4 times and timed out.

Has anyone else come across this problem or has seen it and has a resolve.

This function did work for me before the last update to HL2DM

what do i do here to get this to work

Strange thing is that i am able to join any server in the server list.

I have seen that message twice: The first time, my server changed levels and the map was bad. The second, I tried to logon to my server and the map hadn't loaded completely. I have heard of one other; too many people trying to get on the server at once and overloading the processor/ram.
