Setting up Server

I am trying to set up a dedicated server for HL2DM. I tried using Vavle's Source Dedicated Sever, and got a little server runnin. I called my buddy and gave him the IP, and to my dismay he could not join. I tried to find it on the internet server list, but could not find it. I tried to find the answer on the net, but have had little success. Any information or links would be greatly appriecated.

Maybe you need to open certain ports?

If the IP you gave him started with 192. then you gave him the private IP which can only be accessed on the local network. You would need to give him the public IP that your ISP gave you. If it's your home IP then go here.
