Setting up turrets after they've fallen over

How do you set up turrets once they've fallen down? I'm going through the Entanglement segment for the second time, and I just can't see to pick up turrets and set them upright any more - no matter what I try, they stay horizontal.

Is there any way to rotate an object once you've picked it up?

I had a hard time the first time through, but not like this, I'm paying more attention, trying to be more careful, and suddenly I can' seem to get them to work.

Thanks.

You can't rotate them, but if you move them into the open they should move so that if you drop them they stand up.

They were doing that on my first time through, but they wont do that today, and it's driving me nuts. They just stay horizontal when I pick them up.

The other thing I noticed that I didn't before is that they end up shooting at me, even if I set them up pointing the other way, which I don't recall them doing before.

I'm confused. Picking up Turrets with the gravity gun should hold them vertically, try restarting the game if not. Also the Turrets your holding have they been reprogrammed by Alyx? Only Turrets converted by her won't attack you.

Turrets have been reprogrammed already, that was the first thing I tried. Whether I pick them up with e or with the gravity gun, they stay horizontal and do not rotate into place. It was working fine yesterday, then I went to do the level again, starting from a saved game, and now I can't get it to work.

I've sent a support email in, we'll see what happens. I'll also ask in the steam forums, once my registration completes.

I have a guess what might have triggered it - at some point, just to see what would happen, I took an un-reprogrammed combine turret that had fallen and set it up again - I think I remember it behaving like this. But now all turrets, even the ones that have been reprogrammed, misbehave.

I even restarted from the beginning of the level before and worked forward again to that first control room, still no luck, they still misbehave (won't stand upright when picked up, and shoot at me).

I deleted all of my local files and am re-downloading to see if that fixes it. I'll probably have to start over from the beginning. :(

Enable the console then use "sv_unlockedchapters 15" This will enable you to select any chapter. Simply choose Entanglement and carry on.

Doesn't fix the turret problem.

I finally found something that works - deleting all local files, and starting over with a new download. Took quite a while, but I got turrets working properly again.

It wasn't suppose to solve the turret problem. I gave you that code so once you finished downloading the game you wouldn't need to start from the beginning again.

I thought that would have been fairly logical considering the clue in the command itself, and what you put in your post. Perhaps he wants to go back to point insertion?

Best way to fix this problem in the future is to verify your game cache. Right click the game, properties, then find 'verify integrity of game cache' and it'll fix any errors in your game files without the necessity to delete the entire game & redownload.

I tried that, it didn't help.

For what it's worth, it didn't lose my place when I deleted and re-downloaded, must have kept that status on the server.

So the only thing I haven't figured out yet is how to take a turret through the combine portal. ;)

He probably deleted the gcf's but not the folder where the saved games are kept.

You can't take anything though any teleporters, the game deletes it if you try.

it takes some skill in that confined area. I believe you 're talking about defending that small area with 3 turrets.

If it stays horizontal, then it means you should lift it higher. it also helps to bring it in enough space so the turret will not be entangled. you do not have to use the g-gun it is too much time spend changing the weapon. just use E button to lift it and place it.

First time i played it was really hard to do so, now i can put it back on in less than half second after it falls.

I actually managed carried all of the turrets you recieve through out that chapter (2 on first defence, 3 on second) and got them ALL to the final defence of the teleporter, so i had a total of... 8? 9?

but it was awesome none-the-less.

oh, and you cant put anything into the teleporter because there is an invisible wall blocking it.

Enemy turrets should not self-right when you pick them up. Friendly ones should.

WOW that must have taken a lot of running back and forth :)). but it sounds interesting i am gonna try the same.

i do the similar on thing on nexus top. i drop 4-5 energy orbs through stairs (since I cant have more than 3) so that i could use them against striders before running through plaza.

yes, it did. It probably took 3 times as long as it should have, but it pays off in awesomeness in the end. And have fun. It's good for a challenge (achievement?).

LOL i did it. I just kept throwing the turrets instead of carrying one by one.
Man the battle at the teleport chamber was awesome, 8 turrets, 2 at each corner. I just took a coffee break during that battle :)
