List some of your favortes. Two of mine would have to be in Water Hazard: One is a tunnel on the right hand side near the begining that leads you to a submerged tunnel and a zombie and another would be the part where all the headcrabs come at you from the shadows (the place right of the tunnel with the zombies in it).

By the way, does anyone know of a FAQ of just side areas and hidden places?

The place in Water Hazard where you see a Lambda symbol and to get a secret item cache you have to do a short physics puzzle...fun diversion. :D

I also loved those Vorts in chef hats. And the place on the coast where there's a pileup in a tunnel and there's a little room off to the side where you can barricade yourself in agains the zombies.

And...meh, too many.

I've played through the game like 4 times and I still found some new stuff the fourth time through.. I noticed a lot of the time in the later levels your moving so fast because of all the action, you don't really have time to look around for all the secrets.

Hmm... Highway 17... visiting those houses is damn cool!!!

The headcrab eating Vort, i really wanted to help him out of the tunnel and to Black mesa east. But i couldn't :(

yeah... both of you will be killed by those toxic liquids. especially the vort... w/c doesn't have an HEV.

That vort's making some kind of weird noise when you enter the cave. It sounds like a cricket or some other type of bug. It also looks like he's performing some ritual (or maybe just warming himself).

Then Gordon would carry him! :D

Or something.

He is performing a ritual, along with the sacrifice of a headcrab to the Gods, so that he may have safe passage to the afterlife...

Sorry, I've seen too many Ancient Egypt documentaries recently. :x

i thought he was supposed to have a sore throat? he talks funny  . is that what the funny noise is?

No, :P, when you enter the cave, he's making some kind of buzzing noise. Sounds a bit like some kind of powerdrill, if I remember correctly.

Where is this headcrab eating vortigaunt you all speak of ?

After you shoot down the heli at Water Hazard that drops a million mines go through the gates and keep looking to your left and there are 2 big sewer pipes. One is hafe open. Park the boat next to it and climb in. It is full of toxic waste so you must sprint. Take the first and only left or you will run into a dead end. He has roasted super jumper crabs and plenty of medkits.
This has turned into a Crab eating Vortigaunt thread.

The crab eating Vortigaunt is really the only "easter egg" in the game. It's just a cool secret, theres really no use of going down there though. Everything else is just a secret stash of equipment and is actually useful.

No, he means at the end of Water Hazard. The same chopper's been hunting you from the very start of Water Hazard, and you fight it at the end.

Yes, but right after you go through the gate "Black Mesa East" beginns.

Black Mesa East starts after you kill the Hunter Chopper. When you jump through a hole in the dam, and the new map loads, it's Black Mesa East.

But this isn't a thread for easter eggs. So how is that relevant?

Towards the end of WaterHazard (just after you get a gun for your boat iirc), there's a massive area with a chopper that launches from a helipad.
Once you've shot down the heli, you open a gate & move into a smaller open area (it's got water & mudflats, same as the one you came from) with a building (next to the helopad the chopper launched from) with combines & lots of ammo, then you move further to open the gate to leave Water Hazard (the one you have to jump your boat through).

The tunnel with the headcrab eating Vortigaunt is in the smaller area (almost straight ahead of where you came in).

If you can't be bothered wading through all that toxic stuff- you can hear his speach if you hassle the Vortigaunt who stuck the gun on your boat (but you miss the chanting/humming)

Because it's both a side area and a hidden place.

That's what I'm saying. NJspeed was calling it 'the only easter egg', which I was calling irrelevant.
