We can use this thread to discuss Sigil Stones

I found a Sigil stone that can either boost magicka by 50 (constant effect)or absorb 50 magicka on strike.

I only have 154 magicka so that would increase my magicka by 33% if I set it to armor, but If I set it to a weapon, that would be an insane magicka leach. But I just realized now that few monsters have magicka so I don't know if it can steal it if they don't have any :dork:

What would you do? :D

Sounds delicious. I'd apply it to armor.

So do the Sigil Stones get more powerful as you gain levels?

HOLY shit. Holy shit. holy shit:

I was testing to see if you get the same Sigil stone if you reload the game and pick up the stone again...

.. Killed the 3 mages in the room and one of them dropped the Ring of Perfection. Not only does it boost all your stats +10, they can even go past the 100 maximum! In the end I may have at least 110 to all skills - not including my other gear that boosts past 100. As you can see here I have 125 strength at the moment and can almost carry 800 units of weight.

I wonder if my relatively high luck (65 at the time) helped me find it. I am one lucky mother****er regardless. :D What are the odds of finding this Insanely powerful ring I wonder.

I am a demi-god. muahahaa

Seems a bit like a useless stone if you ask me.

You shouldn't need to Leach Magicka for your character to survive (if you're a mage), and if you've been doing just fine so far, why would you need a boost? Just one less armor slot being taken up by something enchanted.

I'd, personally, go for leach though.

Try to find a Disintigrate Weapon sigil stone. Those are AWESOME. I had one and quicksaved so I could enchant something and test it on the guards, and after two or three swings at him, his sword was gone, three more, and his bow was gone, and he had to fight with his bare hands.

I'd have used it by now if I didn't have any good enchanted weapons.

EDIT: I doubt the ring was based on your luck. I have a base luck of 60, and I don't really find too many enchanted rings.

But looking at your stats, you have an insanely low speed :/

And yeah, reloading right before you pick up the sigil stone always regenerates the stone. I do it all the time, that's how I got the 30% Chemeleon stone and the 40+ Disintigrate Weapon stone.

You figure, there are only so many gates, therefore only so many stones you can pick up in the game, so you may as well make them stones you want ;)

Don't really get attached to many things, they are easily replaceable. I myself have been attached to a helmet for its feather for a while, but as my STR raises I am looking for a daedric helmet.

I don't need speed, I probably should have never put any points on speed because I run at all times, and it's a little too fast. I don't really understand why anyone would want allot of speed when there are better things to put points on. It's the most useless stat besides personallity for my class. I'm a tank. I walk through shit like I'm invincable. :D

I read your story where you raved about the disintegrate weapon and that sounds like it works really well for you but why would I worry about breaking their weapon in 3 hits when I can kill them in 3 hits? ;) (125 strength / 112 blade) (actually my strength is higher now becuase I leveled up.) Besides, most enemies don't have weapons. :p

On the other hand, with 50 more Magicka I can heal quite a bit of health back. The 50 magic is actually a great item for me - being a paladin type with low mana. Restoration uses allot of magicka.

But actually after re-loading and getting the ring, I tried a few times and had to choose between the two Sigil stones that I liked the most: +12 blade skill (brings my blade to skill to 112 (over 100) or steal 25 health enchant for weapon. I took the blade +12 this time. Maybe next time I'll get the health leach chant. I did test out the health leach and it was fun and quite useful but it only holds a charge of 40 hits and I don't have a spare weapon to use it on right now anyway. Like I said earlier, I think it's probably a good idea to get all your armor enhanced first - since these are permanent things that are quite helpful at all times.

@ Sinkoman: You say there are a limited amount of Plains of Oblivion. How many are there? EDIT: nvm - on one of the loading screens it says 16

@ CookieCuttah: I'm looking for a Daedric helmet as well. All my stuff is Sigil stone enhanced Daedric armor except for my helmet - which is Ebony and I haven't enhanced it because of this.

Mine is an old clunky blades helmet, ive had it forever now, but usually on missions I wear my cowl. The extra weight, speed and life seeing is great.

lol, there is 1 plane, just many portals to different parts of that plane. And there are more then sixteen portals, there are sixteen gods, not portals.

oh, OK. Sweet, thanks for clearing that up. I don't think I have faced a god yet. Where are they found? Are they found in certain portals or do you face them all in the plane or what?

Just 16 Princes. What this actually means is that there are 16 shrines to the various Princes dotted around Cryodil, and they all have fun, fun quests. There are loads of Oblivion portals all around the place, but i don't know which are permenant and which are randomised.

semi-story-spoiler:

Ummm I've completed the main stroy quest, so all the gates seem to be destroyed, does that mean I can never get back into oblivion to get a new sigil stone? Any other ways to get sigil stones?

I guess I'll just have to make a new character and not complete the story so early in the game...

Nope, you're ****ed.

That's why I haven't been doing the main quest.

After a while, a few cities will spawn permanent portals, and the denizens will ask you to help them dodge the fate of Kvatch.

A few of the cities that ask for your help, actually spawn portal related quests, which will yield some interesting loot :D

Yeah, the 16 princes have shrines around Cyrodil, find them, do what they want and you get a cool item. You never actually get to go to their own personal territory in the plane. That is by invite or powerful magic that is unavailable to your charactre :P

There's a mod at planet elder scrolls that makes oblivion gates sort of a random occurance in the wild after you've beat them.

Meaning they will every once in awhile show up somewhere like a generated enemy would, except its a portal to oblivion.

However I do not know if these include the sigil stones or just the plane of oblivion .

My personal favourite was finding a ring and a necklace with magic absorption. Coupled with Atronach starsign I have 104 magic absorption on that character.

Sick.
