snow looks EXACLY like rain? what the f**k?

ok..i made a map. and i made a nodraw texture over the entire thing, and tied it to func_precipitation, and changes the type to snow...it changed absolutely nothing.....it's still rain..

any suggestions?

P.S. I read a post about using env_embers and i tried it...but nothing showed up at all.
 
Been a while since I've seen anyone talk about func_precipitation. The hype over it must've died down :)

Yeah, that entity kinda sucks for snow, 'cause even if you have a snow material it falls fast and straight, like rain. Other entities, like env_embers (experiment with it :P), are much better for snow.
 
i eventually figured out the density wasnt high enough and when i looked around i was missing the embers...so i turned it up to 100, the 1 000, then
100 000...and then i said "aw f**k it" and turned it up to 2 000 000...works great..and looks beatiful...

so...all of you who want snow, SCREW func_precipitation, and use env_embers cause it looks f**kin great :) :thumbs:
 
Hmm. Would having two million particles floating around cause any engine errors? :P
