Did Valve decide to trash the flying manatee thing in favor of the helicopter? I hope not... I really liked the flying manatee, do you guys happen to know if this is the case or not?

Valve have never said this. The gunship will most likely appear as well as the helicopter.

They will keep the Gunship. The Helicopter is probably controlled by actuall combine humans. I don't think the strider and the gunship are.

I wonder why they didn't show it again this year though? They showed the striders/buggy/weapons and stuff that they've showed before. Also we didn't see any barney this go around, maybe he doesn't play a very big role in hl2?!?

The thing about not seeing barny or the Alien gunship in the E³2004 demo doesnt mean it wont be in the game or wont play a big part, they left those things out because it already has been shown last year and they wanted to fill up the 20 minutes with new material.

yeah i guess you're right... I was just curious, especially about the gunship because they showed a new flying machine (helicopter0 and didn't mention the gunship this year so it kind of threw me off. But thanks for the answers guys! Glad to hear its still there, that gunship just looks (freakin' sweet-peter griffin) flying around kicking up dust and disturbing powerlines, not to mention watching it come down in the e3 2k3 vid was awesome

I love the hover effect of the Gunship which makes dust rise, forms ripples in water and shake wires and cables. It really makes it as though it's a real hovercraft gunship.

I saw the similar effect with the helicoptor, and I've seen many games miss this small yet very effective detail.

The flying manatee is awesome. Reminds me of the Protoss Scout in StarCraft, except it's slower and it hovers.

Guess so. Though I've seen quite a lot of speelings that were way off. I find myself mixing the different grammars of English & American quite often. Gets hard sometimes when you are bombarded with American television at home (well everywhere practically) but at the same time, try to learn proper English (read it in school for 8 now).
