is it just me, or does it feel like that some of the enemies you have to fight in Ep 1 just feel like random cameos thrown in just so it can be in the game?
For example, the last part, when your escorting the citizens, and you come out of the train, you get attacked by metrocops, even though you've been in the City for 60 percent of the game, and Barney even talked about having to fight all the metrocops, even though these are the only ones i remember fighting.

Same with fast zombies. I only remember being attacked by one or two of them, the rest of the time it was just normal zombies and zombines. Was the poison zombie even in the game? I saw poison headcrabs but no zombies. Also the fast headcrab was surprisingly absent

Another complaint i have is that the gunship and antlion queen battles seemed like they were only just put in for the sake of having them. Maybe its just me, but it seemed too much like the developers just found a random spot and decided to make it a boss battle.

hopefully all these enemies, and more will make an appeareance in Ep2

There were at least two, I think three, poison zombies. There were a few fast headcrabs, but not that many, but there weren't that many in HL2 either.

I think the idea with the antlions is that they can now run free in the city because the thumpers around the city went down. The gunship didn't seem thrown in to me...the battle is forshadowed about thirty minutes to an hour before you finally have to fight it. It keeps flying by and shooting at you through windows.

The gunship only did the flyby about 5 minutes before you got your hands on the rpg. And when did the fast headcrabs make an appearance? i have no recollection of fighting any?

If you noticed back in HL2, few Civil Protection officers were alive and well when Anticitizen One returned to City 17 during the week long rebellion. The vast majority of the Overwatch forces fighting were soliders. Perhaps Barney was just insulting the Combine forces? He'd have no way to know the thoughts of the Metrocops anyway.

True, the Zombines seem to be in greater amount than the Fast and Poision Zombies. But keep in mind that they were more normal Headcrabs around and plenty of Combine in the area. Thus, quite a good amount of Zombines. As for the Poison Zombie, they showed up at least twice in the hospital. Fast headcrabs also appeared about twice.

As for those random boss battles, not everything in life can be set in a pre-determined location now can it? Neither can they always be perdicted. ;) The Antlions could tunnel through the city at their own convenience, and the Gunship was flying around before the roof-top scene.

seriously, theres a good amount of each enemy, the only thing about the metrocop is i think there in short supply since the full rebellion started back in HL2...notice u only ran into them once after the rebellion, and that was only during the part when u first get to play with citizens, so they threw metrocops at u while they teach u how to send them and call them back to u.

Not as bad as the "cameos" in Blue Shift. There was about 4 zombies all grouped up in one place...and that was it for them. I think the Alien Grunts did the same, as did the barnacles.

It's true, I do feel that some of the enemies popping up felt like cameos. In a way it's kind of like a "last hurrah" for them before we never see them again. Enemies like the Metrocops I doubt we'll be seeing again (since why would they be outside of the city in a forest environment?). Similar to when they write off secondary characters in a TV show, they usually pop in for one last time to say goodbye.

I didn't feel that way at all.

I felt that Valve knew what areas they wanted to have certain enemies and designed the map to keep the engagements interesting (zombies in the dark underground areas.... gun ship on the roof of a building with an RPG nearby, ect).

He said you'd have to fight the ones fleeing the city: Where are metrocops who're fleeing the city going to be? That's right, the train station.

Fast headcrab was common, just hard to recognise. Fast Zombies were rare after the elevator, but Poison Zombies turned up several times, especially in the hospital

The Antlion Guard battle was kinda oddly placed, woulda worked better without the corner on the road, but the gunship seemed fine to me.

I'm actually hoping some of them won't be common, making room for the old Xenian Fauna to show up. I'd LOVE it if you got to see CPs who you could make Defect though.

I want to see more Combine enemies, probably synths and other similar things, seeing as the transhumans have failed in the Combines' eyes .

I actually thought we would see some CPs on are side in EP1... and I agree with you the only way we should see these guys again is if they are defected to our side. No citizens in City 17 = no need for civil protection, they either become combine soldiers or get turned into stalkers if they stay with the combine.
