some files are corrupted ... plz help

this is my first post here in this forum .. so i hope u help me

hen i installed half life 3 episode 2 and after waiting for installation to be done .. when i open the game and after seeing that Valve on man's head " :naughty: " an error message appears and says

Can't find background image 'materials/console/ep2_background03.vtf'

Can't find background image 'materials/console/ep2_background02.vtf'

Can't find background image 'materials/console/ep2_background02a.vtf'


help u help me by uploading this file

Try checking the integrity. To do this go to HL2 ep2 (it is HL2 by the way not HL3) on your steam games list then right click and go to properties then local files then finally verify integrity.

you did buy the game, right? uploading these files would be illegal. if you did buy it, do what mech man said. if that doesn't work, completely reinstall steam

You know what, I didn't even notice that till you mentioned it

next time click the edit button in the bottom right to correct it.

no there is another biiiiiiiiiig problem , when i start the game and the main menu appears i choose New Game ... and when it finish loading all the environment and characters appears in a strange shape ...

its materials looks like colored squares not the normal materials like in HL2 episode one

By coloured square do you mean they are purple and black? If so that means the textures are missing and you will have to verify the integrity of the files to get them.

Go into Steam, right click on your game, properties > local files > verify cache. Simple.
