SOPA's Evil Twin

Americans please email your government representatives and tell them this bill is a sexually active woman. They seem to hate those. It'll get thrown out in like five minutes.

As I said with SOPA and PIPA when they were squashed... they will win because they can keep reintroducing legislation until they win. Eventually people will get sick of it and just lay back and accept it.

Coincidentally, thats also how these politicians get laid.

edit: Heres a link where you can tell congress that this bill is a sexually active woman.

And and another link that describes what this bill actually does and how politicians are saying its not SOPA and totally different bro.

This is precisely why we need a movment to proactively create legislation protecting internet user rights instead of just reacting to every Tom, Dick and Harry the MPAA throws at Congress.

FYI this bill is being voted on Friday.

Time is running out for opponents of the bill.
Debate in the House will begin this Thursday, and a vote is scheduled for Friday. There are alternatives to the Rogers bill, such as a bill proposed by Rep. Dan Lungren (R-CA), that are less invasive and present a more careful, balanced, and targeted approach to cyber threats.
Cyber security is a legitimate government issue, but until the government starts talking to actual cyber security and tech experts, and takes the concerns of civil liberties groups seriously, we risk giving far too much away, once again, in our quest for an ever-elusive sense of security.
You can find out who to contact to voice your opinion on it here:

No offense Jefferson, Nixon and Truman.

ffs. I thought Obama was talking about vetoing this? Oh wait, he pulled the same stunt with the NDAA (National Defence Authorisation Act) and let congress pass that too.

It's not signed into law yet. Only congress passed it. The senate still needs to do the same before Obama can even decide to veto it or not when they present it to him to sign it.

Obama still is saying he will veto the bill if it comes down to that.

The White House threatened on Wednesday to veto cyber-legislation that is widely expected to pass the House this week, asserting that the bill would put Americans’ privacy at risk and give a pass to companies that fail to secure their computer networks.

So there is still that small hope, because obviously the senate is hopeless.

I don't believe Obama will Veto this. It'll be contrary to all his actions thus far when it comes to policy on national security and civil rights.

I hope to god you're wrong.

Obama pledges to look really super reluctant when signing bill into law and then make half-apologetic half-accusatory sorry-I-was-totally-forced-into-a-corner statement.

Will still win election because come on, Romney?
