Sound problem

I am having a problem with sound on CS-source and hl2 i cannot use 4 speaker sound.. i can use 2 speakers fine but when i set it to 4 i get this error messeage.


DS:quad speaker configuration detected
3d surround sound initialization successful
couldn't exec userconfig.cfg
Wrote cfg/config.cfgry

Please help thank you

Try putting in console: snd_digital_surround 1

Thank you for the try any suggestions are welcome..

-but no go. I have tried alot of stuff and I can use 4 speakers in counterstrike condition zero anything eles but not HL2 or CS:S....

-my specs are
Win MCE
AMD 64 3500
SoundBlaster 512
1 GIG Ram

-If you need any more info just post thank you to everyone for the help

Click Star, Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices (In the speaker settings tab) click the advanced, (In the speaker setup drop down) choose the appropriate speaker set.

Also in the performance tab in the menu, see if you can drop down the hardware acceleration and sample rate conversion quality just a bit.

Barney Fife, thanks for the suggestion, this still did not fix my problem though, thank you. and snd_digital_surround 1 didn't work.... bummer.....

Try snd_restart in console.
