Source on Linux?

After the steam update this validating resources thingy popped up.

Do you think this means source will wok on linux or is it just for servers?

Just thought it looked kinda stange.

Probably just servers. Source uses DX, and Linux doesn't officially have DX. WiNe doesn't count, as that's not integrated into a Distro yet.

the game will not be supported on linux by valve.

the dedicated server probably will be.

But if they want to sell Source as a general purpose game engine it would make sense to have Mac support at least (which I guess would need OpenGL). So maybe one day.
