Spam?

Spam spam spam spam spam spam spa..... Ok i can see you might find that anoying, so i will stop.


Anyway the reason i made this thread is because i was wondering what people think constitutes spam. Ive noticed that the problem most people had has vanished along with post counts. Many people are being accused of spamming when they are just posting something funny or what ever. This is after all the off topic forum and people can post about anything they want so long as it isnt offensive. Anyway, thats my question. What is spam?

I guess one example would be something like the discussion of what city17 is and then someone for no real reason posts something like

"WOW I love your avatar"

Or when people post several messages all in a row when they could just post one longer reply and include all of the others in it.

I'm not precisely sure tbh. I concor with Mullinator. But spam does include many other things... such as mindless hype (in a thread nothing to do with mods) etc.....

Bring on the accussations that I have done that .

I think that if the thing posted is ACTUALLY funny, and it is in the OFF-TOPIC forum, then it shouldn't be considered Spam

and Farrowlesparrow you missed out a spam there....

actually i think there is not such thing as spam in the off topic forum its in the general forums with threads such as look at my mod( wrong forum fool), oh look there is no more info on hl2 yet wot shall i do ?( load of these), here is my letter i rippped off someone else/ a letter which is basicly identical( no 1 wrong forum no2 keep it in the sticky thread). ok and there is the mindless spam ones where one person says why did _____ get banned.

I agree with you Tony, but there can also be spam in the off-topic forum. For example double posting is spamming here in the off-topic forum, but i dont care about spamming in the General forum because i never look there.

My idea of spam

when you start a thread about how cool looking a new computer system looks. and someone post about how cool looking their car or girlfrind looks or how to cook eggs or something, that = spam! but there is something call good spam! take a look at the arena. its nothing but spam but its considered good.

Now an example of spam.

Fat Tony,Farrowlesparrow,Login_Here,h00dlum,Stone, mrBadger,The Mullinator,thenerdguy,thedemondwithin. We are the off topic kings. So far we have posted more off topic threads and replied to more threads than the hole bunch of noobs that spam.

A little spamming is okay but when you do it during a serious discussion or you do it all the time then its a bad thing.

The philosophy I go by with my posts:
Spam when its funny, spam when its not serious, spam a maximum of once every 10 posts.

Of course those rules aren't engraved in stone by any means but I do my best to follow them.

Now I will include some spam in this post.

I thought I'd check the General Discussion for nostalgic reason...never ever again, My psychologist is really not going to be happy abouth what that forum just did to me :x

I actually posted in it....twice! Man i dont tihnk im ever going back. Not only is there little point now, but when HL2 is released there will be even less point. People will just be there asking things like "What is teh cod fro hte nude alyx hack?"
