speech recognition engine in win xp?

im trying to get this program to work that translates your voice into commands. but i need a speech engine

i read this:

and it doesn't say how to install the speech engine without MS office, is it possible?

That is because that particular speech engine is built into office and can't be used without it. To get speech recognition into windows without it, you will need to get something like cmu phinx which is opensource, so free, and isn't restricted to office programs.

Actually, thats not what you are looking for, thats for developers to add recognition to their own programs. However, there are things out there that do what you want I'm sure, so hunt around on sourceforge.net and google, I'm sure you will find what you need.
