this has been done at ion storm but some ppl like me just cant help but let some spoilers slip out.. why not make somethin like

the administrator is (i ante telling you)

and it will just display a lil tab dubed "spoiler" and if you click it it will bring down the rest of the post with the spoiler? so only the ppl that REALLY wana know will click on it... then they only have themselves to blame... so what yall think? im shure it will cut back on the harassing and flameing around here

i gusse.. its just a spoiler tab in HTML you just click "spoiler" where it is in the text and it drops down

After all Valve's done for us, it was a little disrespectful to have a forum section reserved for posting spoilers from sections of their leaked game.

I completely disagree, it is still tempting the people do look at it, just hiding it won't do much... As much as I want to post spoilers, (I know ALOT, not just bragging,) but it is wrong in my book.

I'm not sure about this spoiler tag idea... I know some people want to post information from the "beta", but in my opinion, the less this highly respectable site has to do with the "beta", the better...

Why would a spoiler tag promote beta talk? I can see how a spoiler forum would, but with a tag you can simply give people a choice, read the text or don't. The tag isn't called [beta][/beta] or anything.

Of course you could say there shouldn't be a spoiler tag until the game releases, which is fine with me. But a spoiler tag in general, whenever it is implemented, will be useful and won't hurt.

Who's to say it would only be for HL2 content? In generic off-topic discussion it would help. Instead of having some bugger reveal the ending to such-and-such a film.

I've campaigned to insta-ban Sven Co-op forum goers who post spoilers without warning... and that didn't work. So even though I reckon a lot of people these days would benefit from a good beating I think tags are a sound plan on practically any forum.

Sounds good to me... the beta spoilers are the only material I'm totally against... though the mods'd still have to read them apparently, like CB says... poor dudes..

My concern is what happens when all does not go as planned. People here regularly screw up italics for godsake, what happens when they mess up or forget the tag when they blow the game?

IMO, reopen the spoiler forum when the game is released.

only dumb****s screw up beta tags and 99% of the time it would be a fake mistake
