Anyone got a clue as to this image? It looks like the lead character from S.T.A.L.K.E.R to me. I wonder what the 'child' refers to? Problem child? Is it some comment on the abilities of the Stalker dev team?

Just a random image - nothing to read any deeper meaning into :)

Well I won't lose sleep from it, but it does look like Stalker to me.

I've also noticed there are very few random images in this game. Usually, there's a connection somewhere, but I don't know what the connection is to this figure.

I don't see any relation. That looks like some type of demented cyborg...not a stalker. I'll tell you what though, After playing HL2 I think there's a good chance that if the Stalker team keeps their promises...stalker will blow HL2 out of the water.

FLAME AWAY!!!

STALKER has the POTENTIAL to be a truly revolutionary FPS experience - however, recently the team seems to have been backing away from some of their more "ambitious" design goals.

I still wish them the best of luck and hope they deliver a worthy product - just as Valve did with HL2 :)

It does kind of look a bit like the main character from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Maybe an easter egg? I doubt it though...

I dont think S.T.A.L.K.E.R will live up to the storyline of Half Life 2 (plus Half Life 1). But Graphically it could be amazing. Especially in those big environments.

That's too bad. I haven't been following stalkers development as closely lately, what kind of things did they cut out?

I think most game dev companies usually have to end up cutting some stuff off.

STALKER: Brilliant concept, utterly brilliant. But they haven't shown anything yet gameplay wise that interested me tbh. It looks... bland and boring.

Latin: I believe they cut co-op out, like all other developers seem to do these days, really a shame.

We will soon reach limits to how immersive games can be using a pc or console as an interface. DAMMIT, WE NEED A HOLODECK!

Sorry, getting a little off topic...

Stalkers engine is obviously very powerfull, and if they can pull the whole seamless 30km square thing off, it will be revolutionary in that sense, but as PvtRyan said, they havnt shown any real gameplay yet, aside a few clips of shooting enemies, yet they are promising this huge communication, rpg, exploration, survival ball of goodness, if they deliver what i hope they do, they will definitely create a new place for the FPS genre to go.

Saying that, i still think HL2 and the half-life series is the god of linear fps, and at the moment all fps (IMO), which is its own genre.

And yes, For god sake will developers offer decent coop support for the PC!

i think you guys are reading way too much into it :p

That drawing is an early version of Dr. Breen (then known as The Consul). It helps to read Raising the Bar.
