Starcraft tactics?

Hmmm...I don't know if those tactics are great numbers. Block the exit. That is ok if you're playing a newb. That defense is really easy to break, or get around. I don't know, personally I was never fond of that tactic.

What??
Thats a basic strategy. Just about every players knows to block his entrance. You should always do it to. If you don't and you loose your army someone can easily waltz right in. Thats not to say hou shouldn't protect the other sides of your base to.

Terrans have some of the best defense in the entire game. Get 7 siege tanks, 2 bunkers, even place depots infront of the bunkers to confuse the enemy troops. Someone attacks you with ground units and....uhh.. yeah there not gonna get in that way. That basically forces the enemy to do a drop or some other type of assult.

That makes it easier, it limits the enemies options a bit on what there going to build. If you have a better idea on what the enemy is doing, then you have a much better chance on winning.

Assuming you have the resources to bunker and tank yourself in, by the time you have it sufficiently done, the opponent could already have a decent air assault or drop en route to another way into your base, thus you could have build a better combination of units then marines/tanks.

And what if you want a massive assault ready to move out? You have to destroy those bunkers to get something out. If you're going to block it, block it like you would on a pro temple map. Supply Depots and Barracks. That way if you need to get some shit out, lift the barracks, and you're not wasting extra resources on something that's going to be stationary and easily defeatable. I don't oppose the entrance blocking idea, I just don't think it's the be all and end all solution to starting the game.

Well yes supply depots and barracks. Most people do use that, and i've always thought of it as implied.

I was thinking BGH esque maps. For LT, you can set tanks up in your base with 1/2 bunkers on the bottom. Not to many tanks, maybe 1 or 2. Even roll these tanks out for your attack.

I disagree. You just gotta be smart. You should know if your opponent knows where you are. If your opponent knows where you are, you better damn well know where he is or be finding out rather quick. You get a single cheap unit into his base to find out what he is doing, you should be able to figure out what he's doing by what he's built or have at least some idea if he may be planning an early attack.

Plus you should always have a bigger goal in mind beyond your defense. Of course you will be making your own offensive strategy as you do this. It's not just sit around and build defense.

Of course with Starcraft there is just thousands of strategies. It all comes down to the game, what you know, how you think, and your tactics.

Or how gullible the enemy is! :D

That to :).
or theres always this,
All << "I'm going Goliaths"
*Turn on Ally Chat*
AC << "Now...what to actually go for"

One time in the beginning of a game I randomly said "Top Left is zerg", right in the beginning of a BGH game. The dude called me a cheater and left....then so did his teammate. Easy win.

lmfao, that's hillarious. Some people are really retarded :P

Zerg Rush:

Get 4 drones working on minerals - do not buy anymore yet

Get up to 150 Minerals - Buy 1 drone

Once you have enough minerals for a spawning pool - build one, you should now have 4 drones working on the minerals.

Spawning pool done - UNLEASH THE ****ING ZERGLINGS.

If done right, the enemy should only have 1 marine or zealot by the time you get there, don't forget to keep buildling zerglings.

Works every time

My usual build is build up to 9 drones, have the 9th build an extractor, build 10th drone, cancel extractor, all drones mine, get overlord with extra minerals in betwen 8-9th drone I think. Then work from there whichever way you want to go...works for me.

Exit blocking, is probably one of the most basic things that Mr. Lim has taught me with his replays.

You have to beware of teh rushes, you know.

Yeah, I get more drones when I'm not Zerg Rushing - It would be stupid not to.

A good terran tactic is to get a SCV up to the enemy base just out of view at a checkpoint, and build bunkers, pin the enemy in his base and expand.

There are build lists that get you up the quickest, just building SCVs WILL slow you down in the shorterm, and you will get raped by a good player.

But mind you I aint played SC for a good 6-7 odd years. Used to love Zergs

I just couldn't get production steady enough to keep him IN his base. My money pours to try to get that up ASAP, and when they break through, it's really early, and he just walks through me. Sadly.....
