Steam Freezing

I bought The Orange Box, love it. My problem is I cannot start Steam with out it freezing every time. I reboot and then its fine, but every single time it locks up on me while loading the first time...always requires that reboot.

PS:I have experience with Steam before this for years and have never had this problem.

Im sorry if this has been asked. I tried searching Steam, but Ive got the friggin flu and have zero patience...plus the puking.


Running XPsp2, descent specs...sure its not a hardware prob.

That's really weird. Try re-downloading steam and re-installing. You shouldn't need to delete your GCF files (the important bits), just reinstall steam itself, since that's what seems to be causing the trouble.

Thats what Ill do then..nice fresh download of current version. Maybe something got corrupted in the Steam install from the disk. Thanks.
