steam just updated...
new hardware survey...

An update to the Steam client has just been released. Steam will update itself automatically when you restart. Here is a list of the changes:

STEAM CLIENT CHANGES / ADDITIONS:
* Removed Exit & Logout command
* Improved authentication system
* Improved UI feedback when Internet connection has been lost
* Improved pre-loading behavior (will no longer pause)
* Added new in-game languages: Japanese, Thai, & Russian

This update includes a "Half-Life 2 Hardware Survey". This mostly automated survey collects information about Steam users' computer hardware (and some software). We plan to use this information to tune the performance of our games.

well that was not as exciting as thought it was going to be.

Updating now.

Too bad it wasn't a preload. :/

Before anyone worries about the Exit & Logout feature, now by default steam always saves the ticket infomation for offline mode, and instead of logging out to disable it, its an option in the settings window, so panic over about that one, :D

this update is so awesome, i can't even believe it! even my cat is jumping around in excitement

Updating right now

So we can't log in and out anymore?

Wait...i saw the changes in the settings area. What's different about offline mode now, or how has it been changed?

are those the results from the VST from cs:S?

no
its from the hardware survey which pops up when u restart Steam.
u don't have to take the survey.. but it would definitely be a good idea.. seeing as Valve are using this info in regards to HL2 :)

They're still tuning performance? Aww man :-(

Nothing, Before in order to stop offline mode from working, you used the Exit & Logout feature, now instead you disable it in the settings.

Offline mode is still the same.
