Steams Speed

Why duz steam need such massive speed for on these servers when they arent even giving us much or really plan too. I mean when we do get our 1 video every 2 days these servers dont slow down bad at all. We have been downloading off these servers for days now and the speed hasent been slugish as all yet they are still upgrading what can this be all about.. ideas? Share them.

Steam shares things other than videos. People download it every day getting games and so on. A lot of bandwidth isn't a bad thing .

Yes Speed isent a bad thing. Im happy. But if they have such power why not give us the E3 videos all at once...

Well, Valve's key word seems to be scalability. For those people on bandwidth which isn't that fast it might take a very long time. Those short clips already take a while to download (Yeah I know it was the one for the next release, but still). Plus with a trickle of media, they can keep it going with new media when they release it.

Edit: Also, I think they're giving steam lots of test runs with these downloads so they're absolutely ready for HL2's download (I forgot, the video release in one big video wouldn't matter that much for size since people will download HL2 over steam. But the other reasons make up for it I think. Sry if that was confusing.)
