Stop Comparing Halo 2's Score With Hl2's Score

Gamespots review was fair

What do I see wherever I go on here "Halo 2 got higher...that's bullshit". Halo 2's score is not comparable with HL2's at all, Halo 2 is making an attempt at being a good FPS on the xbox, HL2 is attempting at being a good FPS on the PC. TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Stop trying to compare them and call sites fanboys. How do you even know how HL2 is? No one here has played it, so shut up until you have.

I think the main reason people are bashing the HL2 reviews, especially the Gamespot one, is because they are afraid of HL2 not being 100% perfect. No game is. Some of you just can't deal with the thought of it not being perfect, and your utter and pathetic lives that you spend 20 hours a day of, on here, suddenly have no meaning to you. I found Gamespots review very fair, and the only real negative thing they mentioned was the storyline doesn't give many answers, and it's sort of a middle chapter, ok, what's so bad about that? Half life 1 never gave answers at the end either.

Gamespots review was very "non hyped" at all, unlike others like IGN which I think affected the scores they gave.

Ummm.....that's what I just said. They can't be compared, and they aren't trying to compare them. Comparing them is like comparing the performance of a sports car to that of a mini van. Totally different.

Why do you care? Some reviewer's opinion is different than yours, ALERT THE POLICE! Seriously, I disagree with almost all reviews but it's not like I think they should change their opinion or their opinion is wrong, it just differs from mine.

Not like this will affect sales anyway, look at Driver 3. Good game with bad reviews, great sales.

God forbid they're on different medians. A FPS is a FPS is a FPS. It doesn't matter what you play it on. So what if people fanboy around here....I don't personally agree with it, but if people want to compare the two there is nothing wrong with it. They are the same type of game. They may not be able to compare on a personal basis for a few hours, but based on reviews they have lots to talk about.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion and in this case justified. Two fantastic games being released within 1 week of each other. Some folks are gonna fanboy. So what. Ignore them.

I feel that, though it is not fair to compare the two games because they are for separate medians, the reason that websites such as ign and gamespot gave HL2 a lower score than say Halo 2 is because of the lack of HL2 themed multiplayer. I draw most of this from the fact that both websites site the same flaws in both games except in the subject of their multiplayer component.
For that reason I think every one should just relax and realize that, at least from a single player perspective, the two games are of the same quality...for their respective median that is.

History tells us that ports usually get lower scores than the original.

Metal Gear Solid 2 got a lower score on the XBox than the PS2. Halo got a lower score on the PC than on the XBox. You have PS2 to XBox and XBox to PC.

Yup.

Halo 2 is a great game and in a few hours I'll be enjoying HL2 as well. Nothing closet about it. I enjoy games on all consoles and the PC.

Funny thing is I'm defending fanboys because all these great games are coming out and it's understandable how people are acting. I'm certainly not on of them, but of course, I get labeled a fanboy.

How does the platform determin the fact that we cant compare. Being an x-box title doesn't change the fact that it cant be a good game. There are a lot of Games on the x-box that stomp PC games. Like the Riddick game. That Game was great, it doesn't matter that it wad on a console. A good game is a good game period. and when two games are of the same genre why cant we compar regarless of the platform.

You tell us to take the context into consideration, but GameSpot is supposed to give universal ratings, without any contexts. They are just trying to appear fair and brave, and HL2 may not be revolutionary, but it is by any account better than Halo2.

My personal position is that HL2 is thi middle step between gaming as we know and what future will bring.
