Strange, messed up letters

Any fix to that? The same happens with those in-game tips like: "press E to enter vehicle" (or whatever that was at the beginning of the game, I couldn't read it).

The same thing happened to me after updating to the new ATI drivers. To fix it I just found a version older on the ATI website and installed them. System restore did nothing for me. I was worried for awhile. I got errors in every game and also not just the text glitch, after awhile graphical anomalies showed up in hl2:episode 1.

Yeah, the new ATI drivers (6.5) are really bad.

Actually, I installed 6.5 over my previous 6.3 and the problem is gone not sure whether the drivers helped or was it a matter of restarting the game.

try out omega drivers they worked before i got my geforce 7600GT

Happened to me after I turned all graphic options to full.

It's the same text glitch that happens in Garry's Mod although I THINK it's been fixed now. Not played for a while.

The only solution in Garry's mod is to type out every single character on the keyboard once before the glitch occurs. There were a few mods that did that for you the moment you enter a server. I'm not sure whether it was Garry or Valve who fixed it though.
