No idea myself, look kind of mechanical plus they have a built in machine gun.

I think that they're biomechanoids. The machine gun seems to have some mechanical facets (Certainly sounds mechanical), but the body and legs seem organic, with mechanoid additions...

I even think, the Strider is relative to the gunship. Same base, special add-ons.

Biomecha's definatly, and they work for the combine altrough they dont use creature like this for APC's for example. So I dont know, they might be some race under combine's controll. maby that is what happend to the metrocops and combine soldiers. enslaved humans fighting the wars for the combine.

gordy has been away for a very long time (10 years) so who knows what has happened in that time.

hehe if its ten years later freeman is getting too old for all this running and shootind hes close to 40 now.

Myeah! old bastard, I hope he has a life ensurance (can you take a life ensurrance on digital characters?) easy money! :P

whoppa oops gordon died, *collects 10.000 dollars*

They seem to fire the same sort of bullets too, and they're both combine allies.

Really Odd Cyborg Kreature Seriously Original Called "Kleiner's Manatee"

At least, it fit into Rocksock'm ;)

Yeah, they're definately organic, but whether they have mechanical attributes remains to be seen. You gotta remember that the aliens in the HL universe fire some wierd things at you! Maybe its the striders penis and he's just pleased to see you...

No? ok....i'll get my coat...

(And Gordon's 37 in HL2! Past his prime maybe, but never old! And no, I'm only 21 so not trying to defend my age!)

*quick loads* Ooops, he died again! *collects 10,000 more dollars*

Well, according to the latest HL2 news, the Combine is alien-ish, so their vehicles are organic looking, I guess.

Maybe they are designed after Xen aliens, so that headcrabs and zombies see it as a friend?! omg!

Or this could all be pointless. Valve made it that way because it is a SCIENCE FICTION GAME, and tanks are boring. :D

If I had to choose form your choices, I would pick all three.

I doubt it. Assuming that the Antlions are Xen lifeforms, then based on the Combine shooting them I don't see the Xenians being allied with the Combine.

Also... /me agrees with Brian Damage

They are awesome whatever they are, i love that screen of the strider strolling along with combine guards keeping the street locked down, that kind of thing is going to make this game incredible

yeah, the way the "gun" dangles between the legs DEFINITELY makes it look bio mechanical. actually, the strider is a
Neo-Organic-Offensive-Bot, used primarily as the combine's Large-Expeditionary-Expandable-Tank with a Highoutput-Anti-Xen gun.

yes striders are noobs: combine use leet hax guns

is what i intended... heh don't mind me i worked on a portfolio for 20 hours straight yesterday and have little sleep and food today ;(
