Stuck on route kanal also :(

Ok stuck on route kanal at the part where the guy jumps down from his platform , he has a bed etc... up there.
He wont talk to me and the door to the left can be blown up but theres a metal plate that stops me getting through it.

Ive tried backtracking but i cant find out anyway to proceed , spent ages running about trying to get past this part but no luck.

If I am not mistaken, you need to talk to the guy using your "+use" key. He will talk to you, and go up to the door, and say "too late!". Then some machine comes flying in, and you have to destroy them, then you can go through the door and proceed to the next part.

Thanks for that but he just wont talk to me ,ive tried everything i can think of , he stands there looking about and thats it

And you have tried using your "e" key which should be bound to "+use"

Should be I guess seeing as you have went through doors and all...If anything you may won't to start again from the last place you saved it at...They could possibly fix it. You aren't to far in the game, so it wouldn't hurt you to do that.

Aye ive tried starting from the last save point and ive just tried starting from the beginning of the game.
No luck , wonder if its a corrupt file or something but he wont talk to me at all.
