Stuck towards the latter part of "Undue Alarm"

I'm new to these forums. Want to welcome myself.

Onto my question. I've been trying for hours on end and it just never seems to be working. I don't know what I can do to get passed it. I read the guides online and I did what it said.

Anyway I'm towards the end of UNDUE ALARM where you have to go on the large elevator while debris falls. Before you do that, you have to put an energy ball into the power station. Then when you step on the elevator you look up to see debris falling. I know that you're suppose to capture the debris with your gravity gun and shoot it away.

Sometimes there's too many debris and well the elevator breaks. Sometimes I get a lot of debris and still the elevator breaks. I'm getting very frustrated and have comtemplated using cheats to pass that level but I really don't want to.

You think you guys can help, give me some advice.

P.S. Forgot to mention this is episode 1.

Don't get ALL the debris. Only catch the ones which look farely large.

I think there are 3 stops along the way. About 2 dangerous debris per section mean in total you have to catch about 8... maybe even less.

Hmm. Where would be the best place to place yourself and grab the debris then?

Alyx Will warn you when a large piece of debris falls just catch them and throw them away from the elevator not above you.It's very easy once you get the hang of it.

You don't even need to catch them. Pressing mouse1 (or holding) will just repel the debris as soon as it enters range of your grav gun.
