Just got Episode 1 .......... I'm in the Citadel on a lift going down! I'm shooting falling debri to stop it shattering the glass platform I'm on. I've gone past a part where I had to restart the lift. Now Alyx says, 'whatch out above' or something & a huge piece of shit drops down & destroys my ride!! I dont seem to be able to avert this disaster! What do I have to do? Bloody frustrating part & it's not even been that good up to now!!

First possibility, you can stop it with your grav-gun. It is just that you are not skillful enough to do so.
Second possibility, you have already reached the bottom. Check whether there is any path for you to escape.
Maybe I'm not skillful enough - tried about 15 times so far! I'm sure I'm hitting it but it just smashes through the glass anyhow! Very hard this bit. Frustratingly hard! Still waiting for some decent combat instead of all this shit!! YAWN!!

Did you check out whether there is any path for you to escape? Since after you hit the object, even it falls back on the lift, the glass won't be smashed up. They will lie safely on the lift without destroying it. Perhaps you have already got to the bottom. You have to run and escape at the final piece.
If you are nearly done, Alyx will say there is a stop coming up. Then when you get to the bottom, Alyx screams to watch out and debris smashes the lift. If you are not near the end, you can catch the falling debris. It is not hard, you probably just suck at it.

....... Ah ha!! Cojawfee, Just read your comment & I get it now!! My dumb ass! I've been trying to shoot the debri out of the air using the Energy spheres! :rolling: What a muppet! All I need to do is use the gravity gun to suck the debri out of the air & shoot it out of harms way!! DOH!
Well I was a bit drunk last night. I started downloading Episode 1 & then cracked open a large bottle of Stella. Download was well slow & by the time I had the game I'd drunk 2 of those large bottles & started on the whisky! In my advanced mental state I completely neglected the abilities of the blue grav gun :cheers:Funny thing is I'd made it that far by disperssing several large chunks of devri using the energy sphere method

It was his part that mentioned 'you can catch the falling debri' when the light bulb suddenly came on in my brain :upstare: You mentioned stopping it with the grav gun straight away but even then I didn't twig! I was still using the grav gun to fire energy sphere's at the debri to deflect it!! DOH!
