Sun Burnt and Tanned

Anybody can burn. Don't think otherwise.

Anyways, horrible story. I got terrible sunburn twice in my life. The skin on my body started blistering into huge pus filled bubbles, and they occasionally burst, spilling out the yellowish clear plasma. Gross, nasty stuff. The pain was as excruciating as anything you could imigine, if it just came in contact.

It was on vacation too, both times, and I was young. Bad memories. We used sunscreen but didn't apply it often enough.

2 summers ago I suffered second degree burns on my shoulders while vacationing in the States. I was in an outdoor pool for 3 hours with only one application of sunscreen. Like you, I started bubbling up good.

For some reason I decided that bursting the bubbles was something that needed to be done, and since I didn't want to make a mess, I did them in the shower. One of the worst mistakes of my life. I nearly collapsed from the pain. :O

I ended up sleeping with those complementary hotel towels over my shoulders, spread eagle on my back. Surprisingly, I still went to the theme park the next day. Things still popped and blistered good, but I was getting used to the pain (it's not as bad if there's no water around :P).

The problem with second degree burns is that the skin is never the same. My shoulders are not as smooth as they used to be, and they seem more vulnerable now than they were before.
