Alrighty, Just bought the GOTY edition with all the expansions... for $20 :D

For all the vets of the game, mind recommending some good sites / mods / whatever for the game?

And the do's and don't's?

Guilds to join at start... etc.

i have it, but i never played it too much

Installing Tribunal now...

I would've picked up Oblivion, but I heard it doesn't like the Geforce FX series too much.

for mods, I just keep it simple. I like the better bodies and all the quals hot girls mods. I don't like free uber weapons and other mods like that

You can find links to hundreds of the best mods here, although some of the links are dead unfortunately.

http://www.mwmythicmods.com/telesphoros.htm

http://www.psychodogstudios.net/

Join all the guilds. Most guilds can be joined from Balmora, it's near the game start, travel by Silth Strider if you must, it's a gigantic bug with legs as tall as trees. Whether your character will be able to advance very far into the ranks of each guild can depend on your character type, but you can use all the allies you can get, and each guild membership has it's privileges, like lower cost items, and ability to be trained by them.

For mods, just go to the elderscrolls main site and they have links to mod sites. Join the guilds that would be the best for your character's attributes. Don't make a mage then join the fighters guild..you can, but you'll have some trouble. The rest is up to you.

Quick question... Does the game or any of the expansions require the CD in the drive?

All of them require the Morrowind disc by default... I still want to get a CD key for mine.

That's a relief... I didn't want to have to switch discs constantly if I wanted to play one of the expansions.

Follow the story. Seriously, you'll get bored in five minutes if you just wander around doing whatever.

Mods to get (straight from my dl folder):

ase30.exe (way more ambient sounds, crashes sometimes though)

Visual_Pack_XT_2.zip (better textures)

KP_MW_Visual_Pack_2.2_nature.ace (more better textures)

mw_visual_pack_2.11.ace (you get the idea)

Better Bodies v2.2.exe (better body models duh :))

changingfacesnpcreplacerupdate.7z (like better heads, only better. Has a few errors though)

mge2.3.7z (morrowind graphics extender. Lets you run it in dx9 with AA, AF, and other goodies. awsome app, but a little buggy)

Just google the filenames and you'll find them.

Oh and learn sneak and security. If you get good at theiving, you will get loooaaded. (I have 1.1 mil gold right now. :))

Damn, This game's a bit hard to get into.

I got bored and ended up stealing us much crap as I could before getting killed.

And I forgot to quicksave so I have to start all over. :|

Aw. It's awesome, you just have to learn how the stealing works. I don't even bother with little crap, unless I'm in a room alone, then I just rob them blind. Most people can just be murdered and looted, however make sure you save before attacking people, because you can always restart if something goes wrong.

There are people that can take the bounty off your head at half-price. Ask around for the thieves guild in Balmora. Join them.

You can increase your walking speed quite a bit by putting some points in Speed after you level up.

Anyway, there are many items worth 650, 4000g and more, so messing around stealing empty bottles and paper isn't quite productive, and can make the game tedious, since there are like a million+infinity items in the game.
Pay attention to price vs. weight. Most weapons and clothing weigh a lot and are hard to lug around, but things like diamonds and gems are very light and very valuable. Don't be afraid to drop crap that isn't that valuable.

Just don't try to sell things back to people if you stole it from them ;P

The main quest from Cassius is really fun, but you need some levels first. Don't forget you need a silver blade or magic if you want to take out spirits and such.

one good tip is to learn some magic, magic like mark and return let you mark your place in the world, then use a scroll like INTERVENTION to take you to town so you can sell crap and repair, then use return to get back to the action.

To regain magic, sleep in other people's beds, after you kill them or if you are sure they won't come upstairs. In most places in the world you can sleep on the ground, but not near towns.

I got bored at the start, you have to get into it, it does seem like an extremly shity game at first.

Spring Vacation's coming up... This'll be my game of choice for the duration of it. ^.^

I'll restart the game and play it the way it's meant to be played.

you should be arrested for saying nvidias slogan without permission!!!!! lol jk

:p Heh, I didn't notice that.

Anyways, Is there a way to just play an expansion?
Or do I have to manually get to the new areas ingame? x.x
I reaaaaaally want to play Bloodmoon as a werewolf and stuff D:

You have to manually get to the new areas, there's a boat that goes to the island where you can become a werewolf.:)

Ok. I need help. Just got this game to try and whet my appetite for Oblivion, seeing as how I'll probably get an FPS of 3 with my FX5500 playing Oblivion.

I'm f'kn lost!!11 So I start a Barbarian Nord and run out into town. La dee da...ok so I run out into the forest and kill some maggot thing. Easy enough. Continue on and come to dome elf dude near a massive mushroom. I talk to him and oh sheep shit he's all angry. I have to fight him to pass. So I whip out my dagger and...yeah. Murdered. So forget that.

Go to the siltstrider thing and go to Balmora. I actually manage to find that Cassius guy's house. He tells me to do things and then come back for orders. I'm still pissed about being level 1 and having only 20 exp points out of the required 300 (i think) for a level up. So i go to a lady's house to sleep. I sleep and get woken up by some little midget in a robe. Manage to kill him with my dagger but only have a sliver of health left. Says he's from the Dark Brotherhood I think. So how do i heal?? I just kept using my magic ring of healing from that barrel in the beginning. Is there someone who can heal me?

Go baaack to the siltstrider and go to another place(forgot the name). It has tis big tower in the middle. After a long while of hall wandering I find my way to the top. I manage to get to a smith and barter some stuff. I reallly had no idea what I was doing, just clickin the stuff I wanted and hitting "offer". Oh well, it got me the item. So now I've got a sheild, helm, and sword. Ready to roll, now!

Takes me the better part of 10 minutes to find my way down the tower dealy, but I go to far. I come to a door in the ground that says "to the sewers" or something. I thought it would be cool, you know get some exp. I got down. There's a rat on the other side of the water. Jump in water. Can't get out on other side. A goblin man runs up and gets caught on a post. He's running in place (teh glitch!) while I cant get out of the damn water. Finally he gets free and jumps in with meh! Pool partay! We have a short little knife fight in the lovely sewer water which resullts me getting dead. Fast.

So I'm pissed. Big time. This game is no fun at all so far! I want to get into it but don't know how. Somebody give me tips how to level up and get started! I'm probably going to start over with another character anyway. btw, i have Tribunal and Bloodmoon.

Damn, this hit & miss combat system is really pissing me off.

I'm aiming directly at the rat / person / whatever... and when I swing my sword/axe/spear/etc. it doesn't hit.

God... it's really irritating.

Bah, I'm uninstalling the game temporarily, it's too frusturating... I'll save it for when I have more time to invest in it.

What class and race did you start as? I first made a Barbarian Nord but I think I might start over with something more interesting. Like a Khajiit Theif or Breton Mage.

You have to use weapons your good at. :P

ie if you chose axe as a major skill, use axes alot. As you get higher weapons skills, you miss much less. At 100, you don't miss at all.

An imperial crusader.

if you hate missing with your weapon, pick an Orc and/or pick the warrior sign (Waywrd). Either one boosts attack which makes you hit more often. Like dude said, stick with the same weapon - the one you picked for your major skill.

Learn some Restoration magic, sleep, or buy health potions to heal.

Visual_Pack_XT_2.zip (better textures)

KP_MW_Visual_Pack_2.2_nature.ace (more better textures)

mw_visual_pack_2.11.ace (you get the idea)
Do these texture packs hurt performance bad?

Just follow the main quest it goes along with the levels you should be at. teh combat is liek teh gay n stuff

Yeah. I stopped playing because a) empty b) lonely c) empty/lonely d) fighting is based on invisible dice.

Gonna go pick up a gig of ram and play Oblivion, though.

not really. The only thing that will give you a big performance hit is that MGE thing.

Just picked it up again. I'm starting as a bald nordic shao lin monk. Should be fun. Never got too far into the story before.

I liked morrowind better than oblivion, so ahve fun. Stealing stuff and selling it was the shizz.

Balmora is most definitely the best city in the whole game. It just feels like home. I took over caius cosade's house. woot!
