since we killed the Antlion Guardian,does that mean that once all the Antlions are killed,there won't be anymore?

Most likely not, although I'm not sure how they'll be incorporated into the Arctic... maybe a new kind of Antlion.

isnt there blue antlions, im sure i saw somewhere that antlions adapt to their environment and there was a blue antlion....although i cudda been smokin something lol

Maybe, but not a penguin obviosly, thats just silly, 'LOOK OUT GORDON, that penguin nearly got you...' not really as powerful is it...
EDIT: and yes, you have been smoking something

We've killed four of them alltogether. What reason is there to believe there won't be more? (That is, in the world. I sincerely hope we don't see antlions again in the Arctic. )

there were Antlion Workers which throw toxic materials at you,they were kinda glowing greenish white

the Guardian was the bright green thing
the Guard is what we killed 4 of

According to the game, killing the Guardian would render the extract useless. So we can only conclude that the hive we saw would die. Rest assured, there are many other hives ready to piss us off royally if Valve ignore the fact that everyone is still as tired of Antlions as they were at the end of Episode 1.

its after the vorts heal Alyx,just after you see the bridge with all the combine forces moving to White Forest,the Guardian busts through a wall with another Guard,Alyx and the Vort fight the Antlions while you kill the Guardian

5 Guards and 1 Guardian since HL2, actually :cheese:

The Antlion Guardian is a newer, unseen variant of the Antlion Guard. It is adapted to live in the dark, underground Antlion caverns. Apparently, only one Guardian stays in each cavern. The Guardian patrols the Nectarium, protecting the larval essences (which is used by Vortessence). Guardians also are very protective of Antlion Grubs, which are premature Antlions, and so fight ferociously to protect them. If the larval extract is taken, the Guard will do as much as it can to take back the extract. In Half-Life 2: Episode Two, a Guardian follows Gordon Freeman (who had taken the extract) outside, and battles him.
Also;
The Orange Box Prima Guide also states that Antlion Guardians are Antlion Guards that have been mutated.
Just like the queen ant being a mutated worker ant, this makes perfect sense. Once the queen is killed, a new one replaces her by mutation, besides;
There's ONE PER HIVE.

well,antlions will be dumb in the arctic,so I hope they aren't around anymore,even if there are more hives

Okay, so that hive is ****ed, but there are more. Judging by the fact that we saw so many antlions just by the coast of City 17, with a guard, it's likely there's one there too.

Unless it was destroyed when Nova Prospekt went kablooey. In any case, I'm sure there are plenty of pesky little antlions left all over the world. Just not in the arctic.

My Guardian theory:
The Guardian has a vortal link to the eggs contained in the antlions' honeycomb-like nest. It is this vortal link that is really used in the process of the healing, not really the extract itself, which is just the key to the link. When the Guardian is killed the link is sevred, making the extract useless. It could be that a new guardian can be spawned/created from one of the grubs, but for now, any larval extract is useless, but the nest is not nessisarily dead.

Not according to Raising the Bar.

Hmmm, I wonder if the antlion guards maintain an internal reactor (you know, something like the Vorts being able to channel energy). It'd explain why they're so strong for their size, and why they can take so much punishment.

In fact, it's a pet theory of mine that all large Xenbeings have some kind of internal reactor due to all the teleportation shenanigans they go through. It'd explain shit like why the Gonarch explodes when it dies.

I'm sure that was just one of many ant lion queens..

for the arctic?

Oh god i hope there are penguin zombies :D That would just be hillarious.
And at crotch level! Gotttaaa watch out for those little devils!

Are you talking about a biochemical reactor? If yes, I support your thought since it would make sense. Who knows, maybe ant lion grubs glow just because of that.

A bit more funky scifi, but more or less. Except it's funky scifi biochemical particle reactor. All life are technically biochemical reactors anyway. :P

(PS Creatures exist in real life which glow like that.)

True, all the heat body generates actually comes from microscopical explosions in a sense.

And yeah, there's a lot of glowing/fluorescent creatures out there. Thankfully not that many around here, I'd freak out if I ever saw one creeping around my room walls when waking up.
