In school, we are learning about the creation of the earth. We got showed two videos. One was from a religious point of view (God creating the earth in 6 days, resting on the 7th) and then we saw the science one (big bang)

I was wondering which view you think is more likely, and which one you believe in?

There is always a but... There is a being on another level to our plane - it is that {in my mind} created the big bang. After you get past the BB it begins to be "then what made the Big Bang?"

Why there is no God of big bang in the poll?

Anyway, we can say big bang is proved scientifically.

**** god, the only other choice is the big bang, so be it.

I carn't believe you americans learn stuff like that in science.. religon is the most un-scientific thing there is :/

That's ****ing disgraceful.
Your school is an insult to education if it seriously tried to get the God-created-the-world theory. Next they'll be telling you it's less than 5000 years old.

Big Bang

Also it's good that your school show's both sides of the board. I was born an Orthodox Catholic, but i still believe that the creation of earth can be explained through science, which upsets a lot of my family members unfortunatly :(

btw, is it state policy that ur public schools (i'm guessing public) have to show both theories?

:p

God.

i wouldnt bother wasting my time explaining myself to people who dont care and who wont bother to listen.

so there you have my opinion. feel free to have yours.

I truly hope that your school was presenting the six day theory as an example of what people believed in the past rather than as an actual, valid opposition to scientific theory.

Anyone who can believe the earth was created in six days is an idiot of the highest order. To be sure, I've never even meet religious people who truly believed that nonsense. It's absolutely preposterous.

No it's not. It is an absolute insult to education when you treat unscientific mysticism as a valid alternative to science. Might as well put a third option. "Do you think a cheese sandwich made the universe?". It would be just as legitimate as the God scenario. Believe what you want in your own time, but material like this doesn't belong in any school curriculum except for historical purposes.

Any way, voted Big Bang for obvious reasons.

absinthe, although it may be true, there is no need to insult others and the religion they may believe in

Yes and the Earth is flat and is constantly accelerating upwards by the force of all the dark matter underneath it :upstare:

Entirely untrue. If you insult people's religions there's always the chance they'll wise up to their own stupidity, rather than having them go on thinking their beliefs have merit. This is one of those rare cases where ridicule helps the situation.

Don't expect to be treated kindly in regards to religion over the internet it's just not going to happen. I mean if I posted on a Christian forum with valid science explaining how the universe was born I'd get shot down and flamed 10 ways from Sunday.

Look mate, i have religious beliefs so next time please tone down the cynicism. You obviously have your own beliefs religious or otherwise and i am pleased for ya.

Concerning the education system, it is good that they represent both beliefs, as not all students are atheists. On the same token, not all students will be Catholic, or Jewish, or Buhddists so i guess the school is doing the right thing by the community. :)

Then again, if one party is represented to be stronger on the subject (in this instance the creation of earth) then it aint a fair fight.
So in this instance, kudos to the school for trying to get two sides to the argument.

Anyway just to recap, i'm belong to the orthox church, yet i believe in the big bang theory. So there you go.

The school's should stick with teaching science as science. If your religious you have your Church (other buildings here) and religious members to refer to for that sort of thing.

Religion should not be represented in a public school system.

haha, do we really know...

...i mean really?

/evils/

We may never know...

And to all you out there... good night, and good luck :laugh

The fact that you are even considering believing in magic gives you -10 respect points.
I've spent too much time respecting peoples stupid beliefs, I've had enough.

I believe in both, but the god created earth in six days theory just makes me laugh everytime. My theory is God started the Big Bang and let things run their course from then on, there is a word for it but I forget.

It's not two believe systems wtf man. It's religion an science. Religion does not belong in schools. Especially not in science classes.

It's not opinions either. It's truth and bullshit. You chose bullshit, so gtfo.

Edit: why is this in off-topic? It should be in politics. And I hate politics, I'm outta here.

GOD created the universe by using the Big-Bang method which took em 6 days in his time....
which is equal to 0.5 billion years in our time for a God's day (this number has been stated in the holy books)

the real question is: why 6 days why not a second or ms of the second ? well the answer is to teach humans Patience.. (stated in all the holy books)

Yeah I don't consider myself an Atheist as such but I don't mind labelling myself as one because I don't believe in a personified god as portrayed by most major religions.

imo the big bang, the laws of physics, the chances of life itself, EVOLUTION (yes you heard me) and that weird taste in dr. pepper is evidence of god.

Why dosent they show the creation theory of Nordic Mythology? Or of greek mythology? Or of hinduism? Or of some obscure religion on some island in the pacific ocean? Or the theory of scientologists?

All are as valid as the judeo-christian creation theory, why are they not being represented?

Soz neptuneuk, not you mate

Brikky... on the other hand

/scowls/

I feel like goin on Gabbleh...
