Okay, who can explain what the fudgesicles is going on? Breen warns you not to destroy the portal yet Alyx tells you to do it anyway, and once you blow up the thing... well, time freezes. I think it's safe to assume Alyx dies along with the rest of City17 once the citadel collapses. What kind of a cheeseball ending is this? Gordon kills everyone?

About G-man, who do you think he works for? I know Breen worked for an alien race since I saw him talking to one on his screen but what about G-man? Breen said something about Gordon being "created" somehow but that he chose his own "career path"... the only path I see is the one the G-man sets for Gordon. Bah I'm rambling, to be honest I am a tiny bit disappointed by the ending :|

The Citadel

And no end game boss? bleh.

I'm really dissappointed. I mean, valve leads you on with no idea at the start, continues to make the plot more complicated in the game and finishes off with no explanation for what the hell happens!!??

I seriously don't think that Valve have any idea about the story.

you have my thoughts on what Valve are always thinking !!

They probably made no answers to these questions, besuase Valve is like well i have no idea what this will make people think of ."lets just put it in here too".

Yeah it kinda sucks that they seem to be approaching their storylines the same way they have approached the game content: ie "it doesn't have to be that good because people will make it themselves!"

That said, I think some expansion packs, similar to HL1 style would be awesome. They might explain a few things too...

Yea, I just beat the game just now at 5 am and well jeez the last level was beautiful, and well the ending, hmm, I liked but I don't like it because we don't have hl3 now, and well with hl delays don't count on it begin next year. But the ending where the screend gets all dark and all of a sudden he exits out a white room, wtf is what was going through my mind, I didn't understand the story, it didn't answer any of my questions, mabye I missed something, but all i have is more questions. But great game I have to say, but halo 2 and hl 2 cliffhangers in one week, I think I can't taking it anymore :rolling: , I just hope they both come out soon, both great game.

it is unquestionanble that there WILL be expansion packs.. but i fraankly doubt they'll be free

I thought the ending was perfect. Keep in mind this is a trilogy, and story threads are yet to be wrapped up in future expansions and Half-Life 3.

The last few moments were insanely brilliant. I'm actually glad we're still left in the dark, like we were with the first HL. It remains ambiguous, but we now have a tiny bit more of a hint of what the G-man does (all speculation, of course, but that's the fun of it).

I could not have wanted any more from Half-Life 2. It is a perfect sequel to Half-Life, a perfect middle chapter for the trilogy, a damn near perfect game in it's own right, and the most enthralling, immersive and plain fun gaming experience I've ever had. Ever. And I've played a LOT of games.

The ending was good, but it sucked that it ended =p, it did mess with my mind, so the BIG question is the gman GOOD o BAD

Fools, it's to make you buy the sequal.

Anyway since when does a game have to end with all the questions answered?

Okay I have a few more questions, and here are some pics so you know what I'm talking about:

What does this look like to you? I suppose that's the Master race behind all of this.

Who are these people? Not the combine obviously, but the other one.

What are these machines? And these?

They could have been "end-level-boss" types, or they could have been used in C17 along side the striders.

Kyo it doesn't have to explain everything but just a little bit, I mean we still don't know what the **** happened between Black Mesa and C17, who Gman really is, who Gordon really is for that matter... we don't know anything. I don't know about you guys, but if I had the choice I wouldn't have destroyed the citadel or killed Breen. He was the only person with the answers...

i would think that's a human being processed into a combine

Hmm I doubt it :| but you could be right. I just wish we had more answers instead of more questions.

Maybe another slave. ;)

I liked the ending and the whole game.
Starwars:A New Hope is to Empire Strikes Back
as
Half-Life is to Half-Life 2
My personal favorite out of the trilogy. ;)

.. in the i think prison level, when looking at the screens, they had some of those guys on tables doing some type experement on them or something.. i dont know.. but do we even want to know?

Valve has a perfect idea of what they are doing. We have to wait for Half-life 3 to finish or, let us up from the cliff, or Half-life style, Have us start our train ride :P

You guys loved Half-Life but didn't love HL2 story? Half-Life left you with more questions than anything. Come on, questions bring up speculation which is alot of fun in my opinion. It's better than being told the entire plot on a silver platter. Heh, oh well

From the Strategy Guide; Combine Advisor, Behold the real face of the Combine. A gaint, green, sluglike entity with the gift of telekinesis appears for the briefest moments of Breen's computer monitors within the Citadel.

Who are these people? Not the combine obviously, but the other one.

From the strategy guide; Stalkers: Humans unfortunate enough to take a train from from City 17 to Nova Prospekt are delivered to Combine scientists. These feared experimeners sever higher brain functions, experiment on the lobotomized victim in any number of foul and depraved ways, embed a number of blackened nano-devices in the skin, and slowly watch the victim lose all humanity. Known by the codename "Stalker", these emaciated slaves are sent on any number of menial duties inside the vast edifice known as the Combine Citadel

What are these machines? And these?

Strategy Guide; Crab-Synth & Mortar-Synth: You only have the briefest of glimpse of these strange, inhuman contraptions: self-replicating and part-replacing synths, the backbone of the Combine subsequent armies. Crab Synths with their sharp mandibles are close-quarter ripping fiends, while Mortar Synths utilize biomechanical armaments and shells to wreak havoc on the humans they are about to destroy

i loved the ending, the story kicked ass, so many unaswered questions! While I was reading the first page of posts i was thinking of the star wars trilogy, ASUS put it perfectly.

Quoted for Dumbass

Valve knows what they are doing, this isnt just a quick fix, its a TRILOGY TRI=3!

Ah, the innocent subtle story that has only been enforced.

You see, HL1 was a story in proportion. HL2 is merely a fairytale. The events of Half Life 2 pretty much are just there to expand the series. As the G-Man says:
"that I've recieved some interesting offers for your services. Ordinarily, I wouldn't contemplate them, but these are extraordinary times."

As you can see for yourself, your mission has increased your fame. Remember that at the end, Breen mentioned about how happy the Combine would be if he gave them Gordon. You're pretty much standing up to be the ultimate contract soldier.

As for the G-Man. It would appear he has no precise connection, nothing established and works as a free agent. Isn't it a bit strange though? What was your mission? Was it really to kill Dr. Breen? Or perhaps, that was moreso an accident rather than anything else? The Combine's grip is starting to slip on City 17 and we haven't seen their universe.

However, it now seems that your services are availiable to the highest bidder. I think this will entail expansion packs to the game.
But the official Half Life 3 (if and when it comes) should tie some loose ends, but split some new ones.

And remember: "I trust it will all make sense to you in the course of... well... I'm really not at liberty to say."

As for Alyx dieing? I think not. That explosion seemed portal caused, and might've been sucked back in to itself. The Citadel was to fall anyway. But, I'm sure there are numerous ways in and out of the Citadel.

Until the next time.
